    Jaguar XF sport brake

The new XF Sportbrake is due out next year I think. Personally I’d take the Jag over any of the German options but I like buying British. I had an X type for years and it didn’t cost me anything. It was brilliant. The XF is a very nice place to be. You should get 50mpg with either the 2.0 or...

    Tool cabinet

What about some shaker style doors? They would look nice and are relatively easy to achieve with minimal tools (which I’m assuming is the case if you’re just starting out on tool storage). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bandsaw Tyre

Thanks Tom, the blade seems ok. I've taken the wheel out, superglued the tyre back on and it seems to be ok. I've cut some pine and an unknown hardwood and it seems to behaving. Fingers crossed!

    Bandsaw Tyre

It's rubber and if I hand turn it, it seems to be fine. Switch the power on and within 20 seconds it's come off - and that's just the saw running without me pushing anything through it.

    Bandsaw Tyre

Went out into the workshop this morning to make some pen blanks and my bandsaw decided to throw the top tyre off. I've not had this before so promptly put it back on and it did it again, so I tried a third time and it did it again. I'm either doing something wrong, or has it worn out and I need...

    Tuffsaw blades vs Axminster

I've used both and tuffsaws are quite a bit better in my view. I certainly by tuffsaws if I can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    18g Cordless nailer suggestions?

I have the 18g Ryobi nailer and it's good. Plenty of control for depth and is pretty quick. It has an auto mode so it fires every time you lower it so it has to be quick enough for that. Easy to clear any issues not that I get any / many. Good bit of kit imho. Certainly out of their range it's...

Woodworking and YouTube and Peter Millard

I too recently found Peter - maybe YouTube have changed their algorithms for showing what you might like and we're all seeing it pop up? Anyway it's all good except you're called Peter! Do you have to be called Peter to have a wood work channel in the U.K.? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Any insurance recommendations for a learner driver

Looked recently for my daughter on a 850cc fiat 500 and the cheapest I could find was 1200 although that was her own policy rather than a named driver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Recommend me a good impact driver please.

I've used a few different brands of impact. If you're on a budget then the Ryobi is stunningly good value. I've got that and a Dewalt which is my tool of choice. I've tried the Makita and that's fine. I didn't like the feel of the Milwaukee. Not tried a Bosch. Tried a Stanley fat max and that's...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Today I had finished a cupboard that I started a couple of weeks ago to improve my storage and bench area. Pleased with the result and how much more organised it is. My next project is an additional work bench with MFT top and drawers for all my Festool kit as it's becoming unmanageable...

    An odd project!

Alas I can't human power this as it's going to be 20ft up in the air above a stage. Nev is like your idea. I'd thought of a solenoid driving a bolt into holes for each day but I could use that to drive the arm of your "pawl" assuming that's the arm bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    An odd project!

Question for you guys - a bit different to the usual questions. I am looking to make a steam punk themed calendar for a stage show of around the world in 80 days. The calendar will display certain days at different points (different scenes) in the show. The arms need to come to rest so that...

    How Much Does Woodworking Cost?

Blimey I just started to add this up. I started 3 years ago and I think I'm about 10k in. Better to not work it out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    photo hosting site

sorry guys I was just saying I've started using it for free storage not for preserving my links in threads. I use tapatalk for 99.9% of my forum browsing and posting and use it for images as: 1 It's easy to use and no need to add in the HTML code 2 It's free 3 I mainly have my photos on my...

    photo hosting site

I've recently started using Google for my photo and video storage. There are limits on the quality, so no 4K video but ample for my needs and free. Google are unlikely to start charging as their whole business model is based around advertising. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Festool Domino just blew up!

That's like saying my push bike is better than a Aston Martin. Firstly two different machines so your comparing apples and pears and secondly two accounts is hardly proof that one is better than another. I've done more than 40 mortices with my Domino but that doesn't prove it's better than an...

    Which tool?

If you want a small(ish) bandsaw but very capable and budget isn't an issue then check out the Axminster trade series. That said for what you want a 250 or 350 hobby series will be fine. Get a decent blade (tough saws). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    LED Battens

I bought two from Homebase recently. Stunningly good and pretty cheap. I bought one, loved it and bought another. Daylight balanced as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
