    Dovetail jig

Oh gosh! Thanks for the offer Mr Custard. I'm now torn because I really don't want to be going down the hand tool route. It's not really where I want to be but I keep getting such nice offers I feel I should accept some. The UJK jig does offer more versatility but I read the reviews and they...

It's a shame that she couldn't have seen that it wasn't good customer service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Creative Craftsmen Need For A New TV Show.

It would be good to know the format but I think a bake off equivalent for wood working could be great. 10 people have to make a bird box. Well I think you'd see some pretty interesting designs and techniques etc. If I was more skilled I'd be interested. I think things like this can be made...

Will this router do what I need it for?

How deep / thick do the circles need to be? You might need to consider that for buying a cutter but the 1/2 router you've selected should be fine. You might find that you can use the rails with the router as a trammel. If you material is more than about 6mm thick then take several passes...

Newbie shed made out of pallets

How are you planning on using the boards? Most sheds use some form of "join" to allow the upper board to overlap the lower. Shiplap, Feather edge etc. You'll have to process every board to achieve this. If you don't then water will get between the planks. I would have thought polystyrene would...

    Dovetail jig

I'm thinking that the UJK option looks like it might be my best option as it will do through and half blind dovetails and finger joints and isn't that much more than the Axminster jig. I've read the reviews though and they aren't as positive as id like. Nothing terrible just say that it's a pain...

    Why is Lidl so Cheap?

I am somewhat confused by all of the comments about the add on products and that these are what make Tesco etc more expensive. I'm sorry but Tesco don't sell these items at a loss they sell them because they make good money on them (same as with fuel). I think where Lidl may be winning is not...

    Why is Lidl so Cheap?

Nick I think I have the same ethos. I will pay more for service and quality. One thing I don't like is people who go to a shop use the staff for their knowledge and skill and then buy the item online because it's £10 cheaper. (I'm more thinking tools and Axminster here than Waitrose).

    Dovetail jig

I didn't think it would be the sort of thing I could hire. I'm not tempted by the eBay option - I know I wouldn't sell it on!! :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Dovetail jig

Guys I'm looking to make a piece as a wedding present and as such I thought I'd have a go at some dovetail joints. Now before I go too much further I'd like to put down some boundaries: 1 - I will not be cutting these by hand. I'm sure it's the best way but I don't have the time, skills or...

    Why is Lidl so Cheap?

Personal I like Waitrose. They are not expensive but they don't sell cheap things. To clarify if you buy Tesco value beans you'll get cheap watery beans if you buy Waitrose beans then you'll get beans that are similar to the Heinz beans but cost less. If you ask at their meat counter where their...

    Sewing machine woes

I'd just tell the retailer that you want a full refund (do this in writing). If they don't give it to you then you can file a small claims online. I'm sure the threat alone will sort it. At that level it's a professional machine and you shouldn't expect to be without it for so long. The...

New Business tool buys... Table Saw or Tracksaw

I echo what a lot have said about working out requirements etc. I do wonder if an Evolution CSMS might be a good option as this will cut metal and wood and therefore should cope with pallets well. They are also pretty cheap. I'm sure they are not the finest but if you're using pallet wood then...

    Jay Bates Inspired Mitre Station

There's some nice touches with this. I like the power sockets in the drawer and the screw storage. Has this evolved with the storage above the base units? I only ask because you've got no work tops now and originally you had 2x18mm tops plus a 4mm sacrificial top. Sent from my iPhone using...

What to get in the way of storage boxes.

I have euro boxes for camping kit and recovery kit and they are tough and robust. They also do sizes that stack etc. I would also consider the "really useful boxes" as they can be bought as clear boxes and that can be useful (pardon the pun) for seeing what you've stored where. Sent from my...

    How to

No just been in Devon for a few weeks, it's like going back 20 years with no internet available anywhere. In my days teenagers gathered in a field for a rave these days they gather because their is a mast and they can get 3G, they'll be a riot when 4g makes it to the West Country. Sent from...

    How to

Mike, forgive my lack of reply I've been on holiday with no signal. Thank you for your offer. Incredibly kind and generous. I am intending to use oak but I can go for quite large lettering if that helps. I'm probably still a couple of weeks away from starting the project but I will PM you nearer...
