    Best buys for DIY

Ah I bought the rechargeable one. I thought this was the same. I did test it and you can run it from the mains as well. I am planning on having it in the workshop as additional lighting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need to buy a new drill

Well just to wade back in on this. I bought a Dewalt Drill and Impact this week. Both brushless and I could find no difference in performance between it and the Makita equivalent, if anything I felt the Dewalt more powerful but really nothing in it. I did however find it more comfortable and...

    Best buys for DIY

I have the same light as the OP. Only bought it earlier this week. Great bit of kit. Been working on the car a night and it's like daylight. Might get another as it's so cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Moving house - please critique my plan

Your removals guys can advise on what you need to do for them, but chances are it won't be a lot. I'd take a photo of all your machines etc before moving so if there is damage you can prove it. With regards to the car I'd just drive it up after the removals guys have gone. You'll beat them there...

    Boots

If you don't need safety boots then Merrell or Salamon boots are very nice. I have Salamon for hill walking and Merrell for everyday. Merrell are more comfortable Salamon are more waterproof and lightweight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Tools

Well I got a new job on Monday (well new IT Contract) and I've been frugal whilst between contracts so I treated myself. I've been wanting to see the new Ryobi Brushless 18v drill but having seen the box today I've decided it's not quite where I want to be. So I went to a local specialist who...

    Rust on my bandsaw table...help!

I just use WD40 or GT85 to protect my machines - works well. I apply leave for a minutes and wipe off. Also I'm not sure covering a machine is wise? Just my thoughts / logic but if you've been using a machine it will be warm and that will cause moisture if you cover with a plastic cover then...

    Bobbin Sanders revisitied

I bought the rutlands one a year or so ago. I don't use it that often but when I do it saves loads of hassle. I would certainly buy one if I had 30 boxes to do. It's got plenty of power works well. The only downside is that it's a bit noisy. For my usage it's ideal and if it died I'd by another...

    Ozito

Anyone come across Ozito tools? I believe Homebase has been bought out by an Aussie chain and they are now selling Ozito. Just had a look online at this: http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk ... 00u-389376 It looks like it's got a metal chuck? Specs seem good (Brushless and 55nm) and...

    Cookery Question

Julienne is for long thin strips - often for carrots. Lardons are as described. You can brown them if you want but be careful you don't loose the flavour with the juices - I'd add them into the pot. The zest is the putter without the pith a zester will be fine. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Breakdown recovery company recommendations ?

I'm with the AA. I left the RAC after they wouldn't take me home (with 3 children) because my car was muddy and had been used off road. Well that's not true they said they could take me but it was some stupid fee of £200 for 30 miles. My car is always muddy. It's a Land Rover and I like it...

    Which impact bits

I do have a Ryobi impact at the moment! :-) I might have to give one of them a go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Which impact bits

The length doesn't, but a 25mm bit has to go into a holder. A 50mm bit goes into the chuck directly so if it gets stuck then a 25mm pulls out of the holder but a 50mm won't come out of the chuck so effectively it doesn't get stuck. It's a minor issue but it annoys me and I wondered if there...

    Table saw advise? £500 budget!

I've got the TS200. Works well. Induction motor is quiet. Mine had some issues to start with and had to go back but Axminster sorted it. The fence isn't the best and I would like a smoother one but it's a good quality saw for the money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Which impact bits

Why do most people seem to like the 25mm bits? I find they get stuck in the screw heads occasionally and that's just annoying. I never have that issue with the 50mm ones but I hardly ever see people using them - any reason? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Which impact bits

Any suggestions on decent impact bits? I've tried: Erbauer - not good Axminster - lasted two screws! Irwin - again didn't last very long. Open to ideas! I like the 50mm ones, any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Best Router

I have a Triton in my table. What sounds quite complicated really isn't. You press the off switch on the router and then a cover automatically slides over that switch. You can then raise it and change the cutters above the table. The spindle locks so no need to reach underneath. Once changed...

    School Wokshops

My daughter school still offers woodwork although it's called something different. They have some nice kit including a laser cutter. It's nice for them to have traditional but also more modern options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
