Jigsaw itch. Which of these have you used?

Just hand routing for a final finish or for a template won't work. Use a cheap jigsaw and a spokeshave, plus sandpaper, and a bobbin-type sander if you have one. You won't get a better cut by spending more and more on a jigsaw, once you've reached a certain threshold. A jig saw is one of those...

    Chessboard (& set)

You'll need a shooting board. Eight sawn faces butted up are not going to make a neat and accurate frame.

    Hen House Timber Choice

Perhaps. But I'm sensing something of an antagonistic and confrontational tone in your posts in this thread, so I'll maybe not bother.

I'm up for it this year.

    What is a cubic metre?

Bulk bags should never be described by weight or volume, because of everything people have said so far. A bulk bag of aggregate is a bulk bag of aggregate. It isn't a ton, or a cubic metre. Aggregates delivered loose (ie in the back of a tipper truck) are bought by weight, never volume, and the...

    Pocket table leg joints?

I'm not sure what you mean by corner braces. My tables all have mortise and tenon joints. I have seen tables with a diagonal bracket (steel) in the corners, with a bolt sticking out of the legs and a giant wing-nut fixing to the diagonal. Is that what you mean?

    Milling trees

I've now got access to a Woodmizer. I just need some trees.....

    Chessboard (& set)

Bill, report to Carruthers. You might need some paracetamol for afterwards. "Acer pseudoplatanus, known as the sycamore in the United Kingdom and the sycamore maple in the United States" Wiki :)

    Chessboard (& set)

Others may have a different view, but for me there are two issues with encasing wood in resin. Firstly, it will fail in the end. Even the driest wood still contains moisture, and this moisture will react to changing temperatures. Eventually this movement will break through the resin at a point...

Temporary closing off a double garage

OSB does look horrible, which is why it might be just perfect for what you intend. If you make too nice a job of it these "temporary" measures have a nasty habit of hanging around rather longer than you plan.

Storing Dried Timber outside undercover in sealed plastic sheets?

Some timber dealers do this on very short-term basis. I certainly wouldn't want to see wood stored like that for more than a week or two. I guess you could make some sort of argument for vacuum packing wood in plastic, if you had to, but that's a whole other kettle of fish.

Those who've had hens........how high does the chicken wire need to be around the run to make it fox proof?

    Project 2: Saw Vice

Well, that looks great. Much nicer looking than mine. I think you might end up taking a bigger chamfer off the top edges to allow easier access to the teeth, but that looks a decent useable bit of kit. Well done. Now, we're going to have to have a little word about your marking out. I only use...

    Wooden garage frame

You actually only need 2 courses, but 3 would be best. Four is unnecessary. I would suggest that you would need 4 jacks at least to do the job (although I don't know the size of the building). It's more difficult than that, though, because the jacks won't fit underneath the frame, obviously, so...

    Pocket table leg joints?

Potentially yes, because the legs will tend to shrink but the longitudinal timbers won't, meaning the legs will be in a hole which is slightly too big for them.

    Wooden garage frame

Lovely. This should be a sticky. Some people still insist that building directly onto a concrete base is OK. (That's the sole plate, BTW, and batons are what conductors use :) ). It's a hell of a task to jack a building up. I'd certainly be contemplating stripping off the cladding, because that...

    Choice of timber

    It's not a durable timber.

    Choice of timber

Osmo UV specifically says in its Data Sheet that it isn't for horizontal surfaces. It really was the wrong finish for those tasks. No, ash is no use for those jobs either. I can't think of a pale timber that would be suitable, frankly.
