    Veritas style blades

There's a difference? Funny, I've lived in the countryside my whole life........

    Planer blade sharpening jig

Yeah, but as I said, that means having a loose diamond plate. If your diamond plates are fixed into a board, that type doesn't work.

    when to paint!

One coat of finish before assembly is the basic plan. Vary from that according to circumstances. This way the glue squeeze out can be cleaned off easily without leaving a stain.

    Metal profile roof sheets dripping

We have a professional sheet roofer on the forum, but I've forgotten who he is. Hang on for his advice before you make any decisions.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

That is the dinkiest little thing! :) A summer-only workshop, I reckon.

    Steaming ?

No, that doesn't make any difference. You can actually boil wood in water to achieve bending in the same way as steaming. Steaming in a bag is standard boat-building stuff. You could try inserting a drain hose to take the condensate back out to the boiler, though, because if you have too much...

    Filler for Oak

The dust and glue thing can give an approximate colour match.....approximate only, but because the texture is all wrong it really doesn't blend in to the wood very well. It's actually more like end grain than long grain, and if you were to stick an end-grain plug (ie a cut-off peg/ dowel) into...

I'm certainly sharper than yours! :)

    Some more questions re. shed

It's only ever fitted over a ply or OSB base, so it's fine on a pitch. It is glued down with a none-setting gum-like adhesive which holds it in place nicely, and you use a contact adhesive around complicated shapes or changes of pitch. One of my sheds has a c.40degree pitch and has EPDM on it...

    Planer blade sharpening jig

Then you need a total of 7 knives. Four out the planer at any time, so one will be unnecessarily sharpened each sharpening session. Just keep a careful track of which ones to use and when.

No. No, really I haven't. Myfordman has got it.

    Planer blade sharpening jig

It's a pair of rebates out of a square, then the edge planed off. The wood was squared up on the PT (because planing hurts my back). The little bracket/ clamp thingies were just cut out of scrap on the bandsaw. If anyone copies this, don't make the mistake I did of making the rebates deeper...

    Planer blade sharpening jig

My back is stuffed at the moment, so I'm just fiddling about. Rather than laying concrete, which was the original plan, I decided to have a go at making a jig for sharpening my planer knives. Now, it's easy to think of a simple jig to hold the knives in place before running a diamond plate over...

    Alternatives to TuffSaw Bandsaw Blades?

I'm not sure (I haven't checked) that they do an M42 blade either. These last forever, at the cost of a wider kerf and a more expensive purchase price.

    Alternatives to TuffSaw Bandsaw Blades?

They're great (Axminster blades, I mean). The thing you get with Ian (Tuffsaws) is knowledge and guidance, and a swift personal service. The blades are great, but they're just bandsaw blades, and other people make good bandsaw blades too.

    Disaster! A broken water stone.

    Epoxy, apparently.

    Project 4: First Aid Cabinet

Don't put yourself down so much, Bill. You're making stuff, and that's great. Hopefully you're enjoying the process, and learning as you go. That's also great. What you are making is fit for its purpose, rather than the scrap bin. All that has lots to be commended. Most of all, you're in your...
