Post a photo of the last thing you made

Are you sure it wasn't "brownie points"?

    About WoW

Perhaps it was World of Woodcraft... anyway, the acronym was very appropriately WOW.

    About WoW

@Doug B : whereabouts? I've tried searching fruitlessly. (After that I tried searching fruitfully, and still nothing! :) I remember you had to be invited to join. There were loads of pix of members' fabulously artistic wood creations. (If I say "bowls etc", it doesn't begin to describe them!)

    About WoW

Hi, I was invited to join the World Of Woodwork site about ten years ago, but I've lost the login info. Iz if s

    Masonry bits

Thanks. Could you manage a close-up of the DeWalt bit tip? Do those and the Hilti ones have a preference for going straight, or will they still rely on the user to hold the drill straight and rigid? (It's only 8 holes altogether, so I don't want to break the bank!)

    Masonry bits

Thanks. I don't usually have a problem, but this was drilling into a wall about a foot above my head. So it was difficult applying force. I started off with a small bit, then I think two more successively larger ones before finally going with 10mm. Imagine my joy, when, after all that...

    Masonry bits

Hi - why are the cutting tips of masonry bits wider than the shaft? Especially with larger holes, it means the bit wiggles all over the place and you can't get a nice parallel-sided hole for eg 10mm cylindrical expansion bolts (my current problem). I'm thinking of finding a bit whose shaft is...

    Divider tool

Yes, but so many times I've wanted eg 15.5mm into 6 parts, so had to work out a table: 2.6, 5.2, 7.8, 10.3, 12.9, 15.5 - a boring chore, after a while very boring! You can't always use a ruler at an angle, eg on a long thin thing. I thought a precision-ish version, out of stainless steel, yes...

    Divider tool

Hi - this (from "Instructables" 11-point Divider), looks like a useful gadget. Does anyone know if a version is commercially available? At a reasonable price? Thanks,

Any use for broken bandsaw blades?

Excellent You mean, like, under guarantee?

Any use for broken bandsaw blades?

Can you get that done for less than the price of a new blade??

Any use for broken bandsaw blades?

It seems a shame to just chuck a very nice piece of metal, well sharpened etc. Any ideas? Or has anyone actually done something?

    Drilling stainless steel?

So anyway. I tried drilling again, slowly with oil, but nothing. In the end I did sharpen a masonry nail and whack it. It was still reluctant!! I got it through in the end, with harder and harder hammer hits. Not a very clean hole, a bit dented around it, but at least it's done. I dunno what...

    Drilling stainless steel?

    Drilling stainless steel?

Ok! Thanks for all ths help! The thickness is probably 1mm or less. It's hard to measure it because of the curved rim. It's definitely not at all magnetic. The hole only wants to be maybe 2mm dia. Now I'm wondering if sharpening up a masonry nail and giving it a good whack might do it. Trying...

    Drilling stainless steel?

Hi - I have a circular tray, 39cm across, shiny, which I take to be of stainless steel. It "donnnnng!"s very nicely, presumably because it's hard, and I'm using it to make a doorbell gong. (It was only£1!) I had it suspended on thin nylon (?) thread via tiny hookeyes epoxied to the back at the...

    3 tpi!

Talking of never-to-be-repeated (touch wood, not blade, haha) accidents, see the enclosed finger? The blade (6tpi) went almost through, along the line, before I ****** it back. In strong denial, I put Savlon on a sticking plaster around it and carried on. After 2 or 3 days I dared to look at...

    3 tpi!

Yes, one's finger or part thereof wouldn't stand much of a chance!

    3 tpi!

Wow! A little late, but I've discovered 3tpi bandsaw blades! Through hardwood like cheese! And a pretty clean cut, too. Fyi, it's Hakansson, 10mm x 1790.
