Can I change insert on Record Power SC3 chuck?

I have two SC3s threaded 3/4". They are directly threaded there is no insert. Only the larger SC4 is fitted with inserts. Adaptors ( M33f-3/4"m) are available. Axminster sell Jet made versions but they are not cheap. ( http://www.axminster.co.uk/spindle-thre ... rs-ax20851 )

    A Collaberation

The vase is beautiful and does not compete with the base. I think the combination is excellent. Well done to you both. Bob Happy Xmas everyone.

    An Inside Out Xmas Ornament

Your 4th turning! That was pretty ambitious. You should be well proud. It was spinning tops for me...small wobbly ones. ATB Bob

    Oops. Colouring was fun though...

Very nice bowl Stewart, well worth the recovery effort. I thoroughly recommend be wiser as a learning aid and design tool. The randomised rim detail looks great too. Bob

    Pot & Vase

That's a very valid point and respected by a hobby turner but this is not a shop window. Displaying work here is an invitation for comment and is the primary reason for doing it. A positive response from advocates of a particular style or process is always inevitable but we are participating...

    Pot & Vase

Lovely vase Kim. These works are so often over-worked with colour and finish, obscuring the character of the wood. I like the way the pores of the oak trace across the polished surface and are not totally filled. Still aspiring to this quality. I can understand your approach on the pot as an...

Thanks Sploo and WM, always appreciated. Sadly, got to get on with some real work now. ATB Bob

    First home turning

Good advice above. You have chosen a fairly difficult wood to start your solo turning. Oak is tough and coarse grained. The judder you have experienced is the probably the fluctuating resistance as the tool cuts with and across the grain. This becomes more apparent as the tool loses its...

Treat yourself to a decent lathe. You need one to get over this misery. Feel for you about your dog. I've been there. Bob

    Record CL2 Headstock play

Apologies if you aware of this. The bearing does not rotate. It has a keyway that is pegged by a grubscrew situated at the back of the head casting. Do not attempt to remove the grubscrew with the bearing in place as it is has a rectangular profiled tip that engages the bearing keyway...

    Some old stuff

Thanks Derek. You are a regular contributor and clearly understand my point. I have posted a lot of my work recently (too much I fear). The view figures suggest reasonable interest but the response has been meagre, apart from a few generous and respected members. Working in isolation I cannot...

    Some old stuff

Thanks guys. I've started posting on turners groups on facebook. The emphasis is more on output than methods there. This is a workshop forum so discussion of equipment and facilities is naturally going to be the primary focus. My equipment is pretty primitive but perfectly adequate. I don't...
