    Rocking box

I will second Mick - but you will always find there will be a slight rocking (perhaps 0.5mm) and it should be removed on a flat piece of MDF covered with sand paper, A gentle circular sanding action will work. One more thing is to check you are on a flat surface to begin with. HTH Ian

    Brief Case

Mitres are not very strong by themselves - I would add some keys to the out side or if you don't want them to be seen and the inside is being lined then add to the inside. I use the internal type which consists of L shaped pieces of 6mm plywood set into routed grooves. Will keep them together...

    Veneer softener recipes?

No finishing issues with a shellac finish - I used it on oak burr which was very buckled and it worked great. Just make sure it gets well soaked - if it was just sprayed on with a mist spray bottle then you could have finishing issues as it won't go deep enough and when it gets its final sand...

    Veneer softener recipes?

I use isopropyl alcohol but I think the rubbing alcohol would be fine, you might find that it has 2 percent of water in it rather than oil. I bought my alcohol from this guy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IPA-ISOPROPYL ... 331wt_1163 Best Ian

    Veneer softener recipes?

This is what I use - it softens the veneer so it won't crack in the press and once dry stays flat for quite a while. • 4 parts water • 1 part alcohol • 2 part glycerine • 2 parts resin glue I use borden UL39 resin. Make up the mixture and soak the veneers one at a time for about 10mins, take...
