    Kity 613 Bandsaw

Hi Mike, thanks very much for confirming that about the wheels on this saw. I've got the teeth overhanging the edges of both wheels, a new tuffsaw 3/4" blade in and it is cutting dead parallel to the mitre slot. The blade is still not quite vertical in the front to back plane but as it is...

    Router table

You could build one in stages - that's what I'm doing. First stage looks like this: Simply 2 sheets of 18mm ply laminated together (having routed a hole out of the bottom one to accommodate the base of the router) with a timber batten as a fence and sat on a pair of saw horses. It's not...

    Kity 613 Bandsaw

Ok thank you Alexam. I have already adjusted the tilt of the bottom wheel too to get the blade running over the edge as well (it wasn't before). My assumption is that this is also important to avoid trashing the bottom tyre as for the top. I've also already made some new guide blocks and got...

    Kity 613 Bandsaw

This is interesting reading for me too as I have just come by a 2nd hand Kity 613 from a local cabinet-maker. I initially set it up as per that Carter video with the blade in the middle of the wheel and ignored the prominent sticker on the saw showing that 2/3 of the teeth should be over the...

    wood for table top

The other thing would be to look for a local joinery or cabinet making firm and ask if they could machine and join up a too for you. Small companies are sometimes quite helpful with this sort of stuff.

    Lie Nielson demo in Newcastle

Jacob: Sure...! :-) drop by anytime. Water-Mark: I went to it from about 6-8. He demonstrated his method of sharpening (honing guide set with jig, 1k/8k waterstones, 'ruler-trick' back-bevel and re-grinding on abrasive paper when necessary). His sharpening methods certainly aren't my cup of...

    Tenon Saw Virgin

I have to disagree with sawyer. The size of saw we are talking about *does* have small teeth and a rip saw will cut perfectly good shoulders. I don't have an x-cut tenon saw and have no problem with ragged shoulders. Respected wood working teachers like David Savage and Paul Sellers both say...

    Tenon Saw Virgin

I think that just a rip saw will be fine. Something like 12-14 tpi. If you knife the shoulders then a rip saw is absolutely fine for those very shallow cross cuts. As BB said, the veritas saws are decent. I have their dovetail saw which is nice to hold and cut well out of the box. Mike

What's wrong with my planer/thicknesser?? Blown capacitor?

The previous owner of my P/T told me that it was working fine before he had his garage rewired. I guess it is possible that the new wiring setup meant that there was a bit if a voltage drop compared to before and the current drawn therefore sneaked over 13A.

What's wrong with my planer/thicknesser?? Blown capacitor?

Hi Gareth, I recently bought an old HC260 which wasn't working (sold for parts). The motor would run when disconnected from the drive belt just fine. When I connected the belt up and tried to start it the motor would turn very briefly then the fuse would blow. I first replaced the capacitor...

Replacement chip extractor impeller - help please!

Thanks Pete, good tip. I reckon the extractor has a long and useful life ahead of it one way or another!
