    Oiling a lacquered floor

    I have a lacquered floor. I want to convert it to a more rustic natural floor, so I intend to sand of the lacquer, then brush and scrape it and finally oil it. Is there a problem with oiling a floor once I sand off the lacquer? I hear people saying you should never mix the two.
