    China

My humble achievements ran to three O-levels, but still, I don't think one can say philosophy is a pointless subject. I love wisdom.

    Invasion of US Capitol building

I doubt Pence would implement the 25th Amendment and I thought Impeachment2 would be futile, considering only a dozen days remaining, but was heartened to learn that, should the I2 process at least begin, it would prevent this overtly racist President standing again. Is this true, I wonder?

Alternatives to Birch Ply for Workshop Drawers etc.

Thanks for the tip, Jacob. Wow! Just looked at Cutlist - an impressive price list, in terms of choice. Don't know with whom I should compare prices offering similar quality.

Alternatives to Birch Ply for Workshop Drawers etc.

I remember Barry Bucknell. Do you remember Kenny Everett's DIY sketches? Your feedback is appreciated. I'll look at 'CutList'. So you've been over the pond to visit material in 'Home Depot' and the like. Do you know if the Russian material is superior to the Chinese? Just wondered! Chris

Alternatives to Birch Ply for Workshop Drawers etc.

I hear on the www that the birch ply available in the USA surpasses anything available in the UK. Is this fact or rumour? I've no personal experience to corroborate this opinion. So, if I was to buy some superior 18mm ply, where would you recommend I look in my neck of the woods, no pun...

    Youtube !

Ah, the Licence fee. Such an emotive subject. And way older than that other irritating subject Brexit. I have no TV aerial. I watch BBC iPlayer most of the time and pay the Licence fee because I believe it’s a legal requirement. On balance, 43p/day seems, to me, value for money. Like probably...

Random Orbit Sanders - which one is best

I have the Festool Rotex RO150 - it's bomb proof. Secondhand on eBay you'd struggle to find it <£100 :-(

    Concrete wall in garage

A long time ago, when I lived in Cornwall, I struggled drilling granite, so went out and bought an SDS drill. Even then, the task proved difficult. My advice is start with the smallest bit you have and work up in stages. I recall, when SDS was ‘new on the block’, the guy in the shop told me not...

    Not Very Good Tray

That looks very good to me. Very good. I'm feeling rather guilty, at present, because I keep buying stuff and have hardly done anything with it. If I'd made that I'd be pretty chuffed. Be proud.

    Understanding MDF

I’m surprised no one has yet mentioned the formaldehyde hazard when working with MDF and the need to take precautions. I’m very new to this hobby and do like MRMDF’s stability and finish, versus plywood, but a tad nervous of using it myself. Can someone soothe my paranoia? The powered...

Who wants one of these for xmas

Insanity. I think enough has been said about this bonkers project. Chainsaws, per se, are dangerous enough. Why wasn’t he wearing boxing gloves? Is he presently designing a one-handed solution, I wonder?

Well Dave, I can assure you that my handheld DeWalt power drill with the Park Guide System Forstner bit supplied does make a really tight fit! Strange but true!
