Ive got some of these exact clamps. They’re fine. I bought 4 in total. 3 work smoothly and the 4th - the screw thread doesn’t seem to be seated correctly and it’s a bit stiff to turn. I didn’t notice much flex in the clamps even at full extension when clamping. For the money they’re fine.

Hi Brian, It’s 1/4” BSF - I’ve put a tap through the hole and it’s matches thread pattern. No the thread doesn’t need to go all the way up to the shoulder.
