    Box sash windows

You can't ( or I couldn't find any) if you want to use 24mm DGU which means something like a 56mm wide profile.

    Standard woodworking glues

If you use Accoya you only have the choice of PU or epoxy because nothing else works.

    Box sash windows

Are you wanting to make them totally traditionally? or do you want a window with modern performance taking DGU? If you go on Mumford and Wood's website you can register and download their CAD drawings. (I'm sure that isn't what they are there for......) I used their conservation range as the...

    Router Table lifts

...or just use a trend T14 (or T11 if you can still find one) that has an in-built lift....

What wood would and what wood wouldn't make your preferred species to work with.

For doors, windows and durable exterior joinery, Accoya IMHO is the best. Easy to work, incredibly stable. It is a bit brittle though.

Which screws for fibre cement cladding

Cembrit cement board cladding (same as hardie plank) is recommended to be fixed with these special self-drilling screws https://www.cwberry.com/cembrit-zytex-screws-for-timber and they do colour matching cap screws https://www.cwberry.com/cembrit-cladding-facade-screws I've used both. If you...

Controlling a vac with remote (or anything <30A)

I have a knife and forked device I knocked up from a remote control plug in socket adapter, the socket zapper, a sound operated switch and a little DIY board with a couple of capacitors and relays to convert a continuous on/off signal from the sound switch to a momentary pulse to switch the...

Pillar drill recommendations (240v, single phase)

Comments on here are from actual owners. Agree - not sure what "light duty" is, but mine has been used loads (had it about 2 years), and with a nearly 1hp motor it's certainly not lacking in grunt in low ratio. If by "accuracy" you mean the cross-hairs laser, I can agree out the box mine were...

Pillar drill recommendations (240v, single phase)

For a bench mounted pillar drill, what are you actually going to be using it for? How often? You might laugh but I have one of these PBD 40 Bench Drill | Bosch DIY not for commercial use, but for the holes I want to drill it's perfect. Laser cross hairs (which you can adjust to high precision if...

Record Power BS350S Bandsaw Modifications - Part 1: Blade Guide Upgrade Using Rikon Tool-Less Kit

I made the mod a good while back (I'm in the thread somewhere)and have never regretted it for a minute.

    11mm dado over 5m. 40 times.

I'm intrigued why you are making I-Joists when they are readily available off the shelf

Hand is forced - new decking required

I think I would be inclined to go to a steel fabricator and get a steel frame/jetty made, and then just board myself.

Sash bar dimensions for historical windows

    Y. I Get it, but up to now I have tended to use a printed dimensioned drawing and steel rules, unless I'm doing a lot of repetitions and then I cut a "template stick" (story stick?). However, as I've never been taught and made everything up as I go along, it's an education to see how other...

Sash bar dimensions for historical windows

Never used a rod in my life. I draw everything in 3D cad, and pull the measurements from the model. 3D allows me to explode the 3D model into all the individual parts with dimensions. in 3D cad using 3D subtract of one part against another gives you all the mating surfaces and dims.

Sash bar dimensions for historical windows

Interesting thread! I had to make a house full (mine) of sash windows, and not having a morticer, tenoner, or the inclination to accurately cut 64 haunched tenons joints by hand (in Accoya which as you know is quite brittle).....I used a Domino which 5 years on is so far looking perfectly...

Is it safe to use a collet adapter with upside-down routers?

I use a Trend T11 in a table and nearly always use a collet adapter for 1/4" cutters - I find that to use the cutters it is otherwise sometimes difficult to have them pushed fully home and get the cut height I need, and the length of exposed 1/4" shank required is longer than I would like. Using...

    New company, new career

Interesting thread. I'm approaching retirement from my day job, and thinking about what to do to fill my time. I've just built a garden room myself, and did think about going commercial, but I've decided I'm too old and creaky for big builds for customers! I think I'll have to stick to handyman...
