Euro 260 blade falling off !

Update: Well the blade fell off again! I'm going to have to sell this machine and it will appear on the popular auction site later this week. I just think it needs an owner who is more experienced than I and has the time and patience to tune it. I'm in urgent need of a saw and because I'm only...

Euro 260 blade falling off !

Yes I could have easy have broken things on mine. That said, I have at least learned how crucial it is to have the wheels in co planarity before attempting to tweak anything else. I'm still not convinced it is 100 percent right but at least now I'm able to work with it. And strangely, when I...

Euro 260 blade falling off !

UPDATE I managed to get the wheels aligned and so far the blade is staying on. I did a test cut today and all worked fine. That said, I think I need to tune up the saw for better performance. For the benefit of future Inca 260 users this is what I did to achive stability of the blade. • Fully...

Euro 260 blade falling off !

HI It's square blocks and I'm assuming they are cool blocks because of the leaflet that came with it. They look a bit frayed so I'll clean them up tomorrow and try it out. Cheers

Euro 260 blade falling off !

Yeah, just read that thread - thanks. I think the shims by the previous owner must have been installed for some other reason - or the whole thing had moved in shipping. I say this because in the untouched state the shims were sending the wheel out by nearly and inch and so it was impossible to...

Euro 260 blade falling off !

Just managed to get the blade to stay on after an awful lot of measuring with straight edge. I have run it several times and it has stayed on course and in the same position. I'll try it again tomorrow and report back but beer is calling to ease the frustration.

Euro 260 blade falling off !

The problem I have though is that I have been at it for two days solid with no success whatsoever and I need to be up and running urgently. I guess it's an issue I have to deal with but something is telling me that 'things are amiss'. I have taken the makeshift spacers out and used a known...

Euro 260 blade falling off !

Hi Many thanks for this. I suspect that this is what is going wrong but not sure how to get the straight edge onto the wheels (an access problem) I'll take a look and report back. Thanks

Euro 260 blade falling off !

Hi Can anyone help me: I have just bought a used Inca Euro 260 bandsaw and I'm having major difficulty getting the blade to stay on. I have the manual but it doesn't really go into enough detail about how this is is accomplished. On the side of the machine there is an adjustment knob which...

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

Just to update everyone. I have bought new standalone stones and a piece of float glass with abrasive paper. I figured that because I knew where I had gone wrong I would try again. My old stone has some life left in it yet but actually I do prefer the larger stones even if they are more...

Yeah agreed - indeed it is.

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

Thanks - his workflow is exactly the same as what I was using so I'm not sure what I have done wrong. It is the bit where he uses a diamond stone to flatten the Japanese stone that I don't understand because I can't see how that process guarantees a flat stone without checking with some kind of...

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

This reminds me of other subjects that I have engaged in on a professional level, particularly photography :-) I'm with Jacob though: I want to find a no nonsense method that works so that I can get the job done and move on. Anyway, thanks for all the recent suggestions: The Arkansas stones...

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

Thanks for this reply and of course to a complete newcomer the whole process of sharpening has quickly become a monster subject (hammer) I'm primarily setting out making guitars under one-to-one tuition but of course we can't talk about sharpening all day with so much to get through in so...

That makes sense - thanks for this.

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

There may be life in it yet so I will have a go. And yes I probably was trying to aggressively; both with the DMT and the chisels. You see what I have been trying to do is lap new chisels and a few plane irons. I have been going at these probably too hard but not realised how the stones were...

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

Thanks for this: Yes I agree and on reflection I think it's fair to say that on the course stone I have over used the middle portion and been one sided along the length. So I need to rotate the stones far more frequently. I have been watching several videos on this topic and watched many...

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

Hi Pete Yes, I place pencil marks on the stone and then rub the stones with the DMT but I really didn't think I was using that much pressure so I can't believe I am flexing the DMT in this process - it's very rigid. I think I will buy new stones and try again and as suggested use a larger area...

    Have I ruined my Waterstones

Hi I have attached a picture of the stone. What was I doing? Here was my obviously destructive sharpening process: Soak the stone for about 5-10 minutes Use the Ice Bear holder Use the course side for lapping the back of chisels and plane iron Use Veritas honing guide on course stone to...
