Helical block for Record Power PT260

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a helical cutter block upgrade available for the Record Power PT260 planer thicknesser? The usual suspects (Shelix, Lux Cut 3) don't mention this machine specifically, but I notice that a Shelix block is available for the Metabo HC260 which (correct me if I'm...

    Yet another planer thicknesser question

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new PT and have narrowed my preference down to two basic options: Record Power PT260 [ https://www.scosarg.com/record-power-pt ... hicknesser ] Axminster AH160PT [ http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ho ... ser-101142 ] I'm very much a hobbyist. My shop is...

    Brilliant, thank you :-)

Ha ha ;-) Wood blade as opposed to the multipurpose and diamond blades, which I also have.

    Evolution scms's

I have the Fury 3 XL with the wood blade fitted and it gives excellent results. Unlike others I find the laser to be very accurate, maybe I was just lucky setting it up. The finish is excellent, although sacrificial wood (or pre-scoring with a knife) is sometimes needed to avoid tear out...

    rust prevention

Rather than using barrier methods on every tool and hoping that the water doesn't get through, how about not allowing the condensation to form in the first place? Insulate the garage and keep its temperature above the dew point. Water vapour will then not condense out of the air and rust...

Record Power PT260 owners - a favour please?

Hi all, Could someone who owns a PT260 with the wheel kit please post the machine's footprint, i.e. the distance occupied by the legs at ground level (front-back and left-right measurements please)? Thanks in advance. Moosepig P.S. Yes I really am that tight for space!! I'm trying to work...

    Planer/Thicknesser on a budget

I'm in the market for a small-but-good-quality PT at the moment and have been looking at the same stuff as El Barto on Gumtree and the 'bay. I was puzzled that the Metabo HC260 appears to be over £100 cheaper new than the Record Power PT260 despite at first appearance being the same machine...

Chip extractors & 16A supply question

Hi all, I'm in the process of trying to work out what chip extractor will be best for my "shop" (pronounced "shed"). I've read the excellent sticky on dust extraction, so have been looking at some of the more powerful units as well as hobby-rated 1HP extractors. While looking around I notice...

The joys of buying a cheap table saw.

Good to hear of old machinery being revived rather than skipped. When I was just starting out I bought an old Performance Power TS from Gumtree for £20. Gave it a good clean, adjusted it, added a new Freud blade, made my own fence and zero-clearance insert and it does everything I could ask of...

    Smelly plugholes

Anyone know any good methods (preferably chemical) for deodorising and cleaning up the nasty brown sludge that accumulates in plugholes? I have some pipework that I canot easily access, and chemical cleaning is the only viable option without pulling the room apart. There's a plethora of...

Plunge saw festool or makita but which

The DeWalt has an antikickback device built in to the base which can be enabled or disabled as you wish. Good luck with your chosen saw whatever you end up getting.

Plunge saw festool or makita but which

Another vote for the DeWalt here. Excellent bit of kit. Plus the rails can be used either way around as both edges have anti splinter strips. DX is excellent. Very good deal at the moment from Axminster for saw plus one rail: http://www.axminster.co.uk/dewalt-dws52 ... ail-508669

Which pocket hole jig, and package ?

I have the complete UJK kit from Axminster, does everything I need it to flawlessly. The bits have a reputation for breaking but if you use a cordless drill and withdraw it frequently to clear shavings it should last OK.

    STARTING A GARAGE WORKSHOP

Whatever you get, for maximum flexibility I'd keep it all mobile with lockable wheel kits (either shop bought or make your own). Even with so much space you'll want to move stuff around.

    Please recommend a new PC

Faulty power supplies are very common, especially in pre-assembled PCs. They are extremely sensitive to temperature, and can have their lives shortened hugely by overheating. I found this out the hard way when the cheap PSU in my (at the time) expensive high-end workstation failed several...
