    Bringing goods from the EU

"We can quote for shipping to UK but unfortunately at the moment due to Brexit, the shippers we use have suspended the service outside the UK for the time being due to the backlog of paperwork entailed." kind of sums it up really

    Bringing goods from the EU

I have just looked at this thread for the first time as I have shipping issue, however, this is from the UK to Switzerland (not EU). I bought a small item at auction at the start of the week (pocket watch). I have been trying to find a carrier to pack and ship the thing for me. Most are not...

    Bringing goods from the EU

That is probably the whole reason why the negotiation needed to be so tough. This was not only about Brexit, it needed to (and will) set an example of what will happen when people leave.

    Under Floor Heating

Looks very interesting. The house currently doesn't have skirting board but I intend to fit some too. I like that they include ducting for cabling too Thank you

    Under Floor Heating

Thank you everyone, I think I will be buying more radiators. That was our original plan and it seems the way to go. Best regards Pete

    Under Floor Heating

HI, I continue with my house project and am struggling with planning our heating (our main 2021 project). We will install retro cast iron radiators (water) on the ground floor so that's clear. We are considering using under floor heating on the first and second floors. The plasterboard...

    Your Cars

Love it! I guessed from your user name in your "like" what you drove so came looking. Coincidently , we will take delivery of a new Defender 110 at the start of 2021 to run alongside the Elise:)

    Your Cars

I still have the 1999 Elise that I bought new. She's an old lady now, keeps up the Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious motto but hey, when she is on form she's great!

    Chainsaws?

It's a Husqvarna 130, totally inexperienced user (literally first use). I am clearing a patch of garden, most is small stuff but one was sightly less small at about 10 cm diameter. All came down easily with no jamming issues). As it was all new I suspect the issue relates to not retensioning...

    Chainsaws?

A newbie chainsaw question. I started using my new chainsaw for the first time today. The first hand full of trees came down fine (not your giant redwood you understand), then the chain came off the arm mid cut. Back to the user manual, putting the chain back on and some of the links are...

    Kitchen Cabinets

I have watched a couple of YouTube video's on using dovetail jigs with routers and am feeling rather excited about having a go. My previous dovetails have involved mallet and chisel and have, quite frankly, been total crap. I will return home on Sunday but see that Swiss Post will deliver my...

    Kitchen Cabinets

That cabinet is absolutely stunning and exactly where I would like to go with my next kitchen (getting away from the current commercial chipboard offerings). I was concerned about doing this myself as my joints are terrible, however, having read this thread I have ordered a router and dovetail...

Kids & phones, am I getting old?

I bought my son an iPhone. If you're going to spend the money there's no point wasting it. It seems I am low quality. It is a good solid product, easy for me to maintain and manage so on that basis I am okay being a crap parent. He has, however, worked his way into a job with a software...

Kids & phones, am I getting old?

Phil, I think you're close but not quite there. It is certainly all about cost though. When SMS (Short Messaging Service) was invented the message size was limited to 160 bytes (I am not sure if users actually got the full 160 characters), Initially messages were limited to this size, later...

Kids & phones, am I getting old?

Nice comment about low quality parents here. My personal context here: Here in Switzerland kids are expected to travel to school alone from the age of 4 years old. Not being Swiss I found packing my 4 year old off to walk alone pretty horrific. In hindsight it was perfectly okay. When this...

Kids & phones, am I getting old?

To be honest (TBH) "K" sounds pretty good to me! My son is 17, has had phones for years and is 6 months into a technology apprenticeship. As far as technology goes he is pretty tooled up (own iPhone XS Max, own Apple Watch, own iPad, work iPad Pro, work Macbook pro) so I know that when I...
