Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

Thanks! Nothing against Axminster at all, I really like the company, I buy lots of bits from them and I have a large pillar drill from them. I just don't recall having read any reviews or seeing them come up in the various band saw threads.

Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

Thanks I'm checking with my spark but I'm pretty sure he left provisions for putting in a 16A circuit.

Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

Well, from what I've read, many cheaper saws would struggle to do what i want to do. Unless you have any suggestions? Obviously I'd be happier if it was at the £1500 end of that price range  I don't personally see the point in buying an unsuitable cheaper machine that I'd be...

Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

Right then, I've been wanting a bandsaw for years and have finally deciding to set aside a reasonable chunk of cash - up to £2000 - to hopefully get a good one. Hopefully with some great advice from the forum. I've been researching for a while but finding it to be one of the hardest decisions...

Extraction for Dewalt DW 733 planer - is my festool ok?

Thanks for all the replies. But I'm still no clearer on what to get. I want something that can handle the chips of a thicknesser but something that won't be pumping harmful dust back into the workshop. Do i really need to be thinking a bout something much bigger and more expensive like this??

Extraction for Dewalt DW 733 planer - is my festool ok?

No plans for end grain planing at the moment. I was aware of the dangers but have seen a video of a guy doing it safely with the Makita 2012nb. Cheers Dave

Extraction for Dewalt DW 733 planer - is my festool ok?

Ah, you got me! :D Am i right in thinking that i want a HVLP extractor? Any idea what the minimum spec i would need is in terms of flow rate? I've looked at Axminster Trade ones but they're looking at £350+ and i don't have much floor space left. Thanks for the reply.

Extraction for Dewalt DW 733 planer - is my festool ok?

Hello, I'm thinking of picking up a dewalt DW 733 for numerous jobs including guitar making and planing glued up chopping boards. It looks like a useful machine. In terms of extraction, I have a festool Midi permanently connected to my Kapex in my small workshop, and i also have a Festool CTL...

    Help making internal bifold doors

Hello, I'm after some advice on making some flat panel internal folding doors to be able to close off an office/cinema room. As it's a home cinema room it would be good to have some acoustic silencing but not essential. I'm wondering what tracks runners people would suggest and what to make...

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

Well i bought the record 6" grinder from FFX and the sealey polisher. The sealey feels much more substantial and better built. I have to say i'm a bit disappointed with the record. It seems cheap and flimsy. It's virtually impossible to get the white wheel to run true. In some places the face...

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

But now i've just read that the Veritas grinding jig isn't designed to be used with a 40mm wheel. AAAHHH!

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

Thanks for the advice Robin. I've decided to go for the newer version of the record at just over £70 and hope that it is set up ok. I also picked up a 6" Sealey Buffer/ Polisher as i want two dedicated machines. I've run that briefly and it seems really quiet and smooth, doesn't move on the...

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

Actually yes, the record website shows it as discontinued in the support section and the new model listed has a narrower coarse wheel and slightly higher rpm. Wonder if anyone has compared the two? http://www.recordpower.co.uk/support/pa ... whitestone

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

Thanks John, I guess five years isn't that bad for a grinder less than £100 nowadays. Annoying that Record weren't helpful though. Was it within the guarantee period? I read some about the Records being discontinued due to feedback about build quality and replaced by newer better built models...

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

So I think I've narrowed it down to a choice between the Record Power RSBG6 and the Sealey BG150XW/99 with the wire wheel The Sealey states a 450w motor compared to the Record at 370w but the Record does come with a nice wide white wheel which would presumably be good for my planes? With...

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

I was planning on swapping to a cooler white wheel to help with that. Is the clarke ok? i have no idea how to choose between clarke, sealey, draper, Record etc other than wanting something with a better motor and the option to get the record already with a white wheel. That looks great but...

Which grinder & polisher for sharpening and polishing parts.

Hello, I'm renovating a number of old hand planes and chisels and think it's probably time i invested in a grinder and a polisher, or one machine that could do both jobs. I don't really want to spend too much money but never like to buy anything rubbish that will pack in or not be up to the...

Fitting two NEFF ovens in ply carcass - advise me please

Thanks Chippy. I bought the trim kit mostly because i thought having the side trims in one piece looked nicer. I haven't unpacked it yet but if you've used one before, is the metal dividing shelf supposed to sit on/cover a ply/chipboard shelf or is the metal shelf designed to support the oven...

Fitting two NEFF ovens in ply carcass - advise me please

Nah, I reckon those ovens will look great with lots ofpaint spots on them ;). They look like the exact ovens that I've just had delivered. Did you use the trim kit that has the metal shelf between the ovens? If so, does tha metal shelf take the load of the top oven? Cheers Dave

Fitting two NEFF ovens in ply carcass - advise me please

Thanks Chippy, that's really helpful. (By the way, I pity the poor bugger that has to paint around those units! ;)) I've made standard sized carcasses but the base and top ledger are set back 18mm so the drawer fronts will sit flush. I thought about plywood strips but I didn't have enough space...
