Who do you follow on YouTube?

I like the usual uspects like the woodwhisperer, J Katz Moses, and the guys from Netflix's Making Fun but also these ones who are more active on instagram - TwoMooseDesign, echopeakdesign, ashleyharwoodturning, and thehouseoftimber (some of her signs are just great graphic design). And for...

How to cut box slots for splines on a box without a table saw?

Hello, I'm making a jewellery box for my daughter with mitred joints and i want to add corner splines. The tools I have available are bandsaw, router table, domino, handsaws. Box is 27x14cm and 8cm high. I don't think my skills are up to it with a handsaw! Wondering if anyone has a jig they...

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

@Nick Laguna UK Would love to see a Planer/thicknesser from you, especially one that has a big motor, good build, but still runs on 13amp plug. That's one of the reasons i went for the 14BX, big motor, plenty of power and the build quality seems really good. I've only done a few cuts so far...

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

Thanks Jacob, I did use a sack trolley to get it down the drive and into the worksop. I ended up getting the laguna wheel base and i have to say it is very stable. In fact, on my uneven workshop floor it's more stable on the wheelbase than on the its' own base.

@Mooose Thanks for mentioning that, that looks perfect.

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

Thanks @Blackswanwood I might get one of each then as hopefully I'll be doing both at some point. Tuffsaws prices seem to be very good too.

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

That's great thanks, I had asked Ian at Tuffsaws and he recommended similar and i was trying to decide between the Sabrecut and Fastcut for resawing. I guess the Fastcut leaves a nice finish?

@Blackswanwood and @Mooose Would you mind telling me what blades you're using for resawing and curves? Thanks Dave

Which of these Axi Extractors? needs to be small, 3 pin plug and able to use fine filter?

Thanks so much for the photos, that's really helpful and as you say it seems a bit more compact than they suggest. I reckon that might be the one to get. The one without the cyclone obviously takes up a bit less space but I've never used a proper extractor so will have to take your advice about...

Which of these Axi Extractors? needs to be small, 3 pin plug and able to use fine filter?

Hi Pete, thanks. I've seen a number of your posts where you mention that limit for 100mm ducts. It seems nuts that the appliances come with 100mm but ask for airflow that exceeds that limit! Presumably running a 125 or 150mm hose and reducing to 100mm at the outlet doesn't help at all?

Which of these Axi Extractors? needs to be small, 3 pin plug and able to use fine filter?

Thanks for feedback. I was worried about it being a bit big as well. Any photos would be cool. I wonder if the black friday deal finishes at midnight or sometime Monday? Not really clear on the website. I see that the AW118 is backordered as well, bummer. Can i ask what prompted you to go for...

Which of these Axi Extractors? needs to be small, 3 pin plug and able to use fine filter?

Afternoon all, I have a small 6x3m workshop and need to extract from a bandsaw with 2x100mm ports and a router table with an Incra cleansweep box (100mm port.) Chop saw and sanders/tracksaw currently using Festool extractors. In the future I will need to extract from a lunchbox planer to also...

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

Thanks for the feedback. Are you pleased with the 14BX? It was a tough choice between that and the Axminster AP3327B for similar money.

Which wheeled base for new Bandsaw - Laguna 14BX

I've just ordered a Laguna 14BX with a nice Black Friday discount- it was between this and the Axminster AP3327B - I don't have 16A sockets, I liked the footbrake and the more powerful motor so went with the Laguna. Any advice on what mobile base would be best? There's the Laguna 3 wheeled one...

Is Festool the King of Dust?

I'd have to agree that the Festool dust collection is superior to anything i'd used previously, i don't know if the competitors have caught up. I switched from a broken Metabo SXE450 duo which i previously loved to a Rotex and the brushless ETS EC 150/3. I'm able to do floorboards and woodwork...

    Best nail gun

I have the Hikoki 18g and 16g. Really like them. I've never used an air nailer so can't compare but I have used a dewalt framing nailer and disliked the delay between pulling the trigger and the nailer firing. The Hikoki is virtually instant. Heavy, but really happy with them.

Best 6" Random Orbital Sander or should I get a forced rotation (geared) Sander?

I had the Metabo for years and it was great. But Agree that changing the orbit was confusing and hit and miss. When it packed in after a fairly hard 8 years or so I got the Rotex and ETS150/3. The Rotex is a beast - for cleaning up painted, rough timber or old floorboards it excels. But it...

Your experience with either the Triton MOF001 or TRA001 router?

That Incra plate is the one i have too, with the cleansweep inserts and box. Haven't been able to use as intended yet as I'm trying to decide on a HVLP dust collector for it. At the moment I'm using 2 Festool CT extractors. The Incra plate is lovely, if you're interested, Wood workers workshop...

    Grinder advice

Yep, I cut the slot wider for the wheel and filed it smooth. Easy to do! I can't imagine there is any fire risk. The CBN wheel keeps things cool. I guess a slower grinder would be cooler still. And you could always have a CBN on both sides. I just don't use the coarse wheel that often.

Your experience with either the Triton MOF001 or TRA001 router?

That does look great (I have a Jessem table with the Incra inserts) but is expensive and the Triton above table adjustment is fine for my needs.
