    I have used Morrell's water based lacquer for many years using a Wagner HVLP spray gun with great success If you can lay the wardrobe horizontal on some sort of A frame you will get a better application rather than it standing full height nib the paint first using high number grit paper.

    Be very careful applying to many coats of oil based finish as it will end up like a lacquer or varnish. Remember oil finish is a very poor heat resistant finish just like wax I agree the fuzzy patches are raised grain due to some sort of moisture getting into the wood
