Continued gentle tapping and a little lubricant. It took about 1\2 hour after leaving the lubricant to soak in.

I noticed today, when turning a very long piece that the seemed to be play on the tail end. I checked the head stock and it does seem there is a little movement there; I can feel it but it is slight. Am assuming that it becomes noticeable with longer pieces. The question is, how to I confirm...

Have been turning this piece but no idea what it is ... I have had it drying for around 18 months but no idea where I got it from! Any thoughts pls? It is very fine when turned, and starts white but goes to pink. Pics in next post. Thanks all

I post off some of my work so know that actually the cost of the postage for these would be less than £1, so maybe being picky .. but ... Living out in the sticks means our local hardware/building suppliers are stock most things and I try to use them whenever I can, and I can incorporate them...
