Stanley Scraper Plane - *****'s guide needed

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some really basic info on the Stanley scraper plane, the one with spokeshave type handles. I've been fiddling around trying to see how use it, and have to admit that I don't have the first idea. Could anyone tell me .... (i) Which way round to fit the blade...

    Newbie wet grinder advice

Here's mine with the rest setup for the wet wheel. I have the Veritas grinder rest, which cost nearly as much as the Wickes grinder. Fixed with captive bolts and wing nuts. You may notice the plinth allowing the rest to go the other side of the wheel - grinding towards the edge. That was...

    Newbie wet grinder advice

I have the Wickes equivalent. A pretty poor piece of kit, actually. I hope the Axminster one is better. I mounted an adjustable rest on a wooden pillar to address exactly the problem you have. If I can work out how to post a picture, I'll do so tonight. Tony S

    Recommended Old Tool Dealer(s)

Just looked at some of the web sites, and see what you mean about prices. Maybe I'll persist with Ebay a bit longer. Tony S

    Recommended Old Tool Dealer(s)

Alf, thank you. Fancy that being remembered. You're maybe referring to the old MSN UK Woodworking group, where I received advice on turning the handles. I'll check out the dealers on your web page, and see how I get on. There are also a couple of planes on Ebay, but really Ebay is so...

    Recommended Old Tool Dealer(s)

Good day. I would quite like to get hold of a Record 050 combination plane. I am getting fed up with looking on Ebay - although these things regularly come up you never seem to get a straight answer to questions like "are there any parts missing". Are there any dealers you would recommend...
