    Bottled Gas Prices…..!

We use 47kg bottled gas for central heating, hot water and cooking. We buy four at a time and for quite a while they have cost £290 for four. Suddenly £347! Threatening to go up again of course…..just wondering what others are paying for these bottles.

    Gloss Finish on a Box

Thank you both. When you say ‘oil’ I would normally use Osmo Polyx but have only really used satin on oak. I note they also do a ‘glossy’ - would that work? Brass patina would be acceptable.

    Gloss Finish on a Box

My late father left his prized watch to my youngest son. My father bought the watch in 1941 with his first ever pay packet from the RAF and he kept it in perfect condition and working order ever since! Rather than just giving it to my son I thought I would make a watch box with the watch brand...

    Is this an eBay scam?

Along similar lines, my wife runs an internationally-operating food business based in the UK. They received a very large payment into their bank from an unknown source followed by an order which was duly cancelled with a request to refund the money to a ‘sister’ company in Holland...

    Tantalised Roofing Battens

I couldn’t make it any wider and, given the angle of the existing supports, the edge would be at head-hitting height!!

Exterior Oak - Treat or Not?

Thanks for the replies. I have had the ends powder-coated in anthracite which will go nicely with the greyed oak.

    Tantalised Roofing Battens

I have finished the red cedar shingled logstore finally. In the end I didn’t bother with the plywood or the Tyvek just attaching battens across the supports and nailing on the shingles with SS annular nails. I used a contour gauge to fit the top row into the stone wall as near as possible...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

We have a bridge over a stream that we replaced 8 or so years ago. I kept the old Douglas Fir boards under a shed just in case! The five bar gate at the end of the drive gave up the ghost last year presenting me with the perfect opportunity to use the boards. The boards were not large enough for...

Exterior Oak - Treat or Not?

I refurbished an old cast-iron ended bench four years ago (photos attached). I replaced the wooden slats with oak which I treated with Osmo WR Base Coat followed by Osmo UV Protection Oil. I was hoping that the coats would stand the test of time and weather but it turned out they meant it when...

Interesting thread for me too……also interesting that no-one has first-hand experience of any of these courses (thread only started yesterday though).

    Cleaning?

+1 for hard Axminster machine wax in a tin. You do need to replenish it though.
