    Glue(?) for Thin Patio Slabs

I have a concrete area about 5 sqm outside our back door from which steps lead down to our patio. The patio is slabbed, the concrete and steps are bare. I have found slim slabs which can be laid on this concrete area and the backdoor can still swing open but won't have sufficient clearance for a...

    Portable Media-blaster

You can copper first but it’s not necessary. The longer you leave the piece in the electrolyte the more nickel is deposited. There are a few USA gunsmiths on YouTube who use this process and their items are actually handled but the plating still lasts.

    Portable Media-blaster

I have looked at the stainless option but I would prefer to use the existing nuts and bolts. DIY nickel plating is very cheap and easy to do. A bit of effort cleaning and, if necessary, re-cutting threads. A brief polish to give the final nut and bolt-heads a satin/gloss finish. Plenty of...

    Portable Media-blaster

I don’t actually ride motorcycles but having retired I thought it would be a fun project. Lots of ‘school days’ involved; YouTube a friend as usual; certainly a lot to learn regarding the imperial nuts and bolts identification. I am going to nickel plate all nuts and bolts which will contrast...

    Portable Media-blaster

I take it yours was a swinging arm version? I took the plunge!

    Portable Media-blaster

Clearly no-one had any knowledge of this kit. When I went to buy it at MachineMart they pointed out that my 14cfm compressor was not up to the job. Instead I bought a sandblaster pot from sandblasters.co.uk. Used it today for the first time - absolutely brilliant. Runs at around 90psi. Very fast...

    Stuck thermostatic shower valve

Beware - there will probably be an allen screw on the side of the valve holding it in place. After having pulled and pulled trying to remove a faulty valve (almost using both feet on the wall!) we then dig out the tiles to look in further detail and found the screw. It had been tiled in after...

    Non-Woven Flexible Pads

    D. I only use these pads for cleaning surface rust off my drill press and planer/thicknesser beds. Burgundy pads (which I believe are medium) with WD40. Apply WD to the pad and always go in one direction lightly pressing. On my PT I always work in the direction of travel. Works perfectly.

    Joke Thread 4 (closed).

If people post in the incorrect forum elsewhere on this site don’t moderators move the posts to the correct/more relevant forum? Or is there just too much here for them to wade through…..? I just skip through now.

    Helping out a family member

I always pay guys immediately. The job’s done so pay now. I find I get excellent repeat service when I call as they know they won’t be waiting for payment. I needed an electrician last week, rang and receptionist said they are all busy. They asked for my details and 35 minutes later he was...

    Banggood, VAT, import duties

I’ve always been sceptical about buying from them but ordered a 45 degree router bit for box making. It wasn’t quite 45 sadly!!

    Folding Leg Desk

Thanks John but the gate-legs get in the way of your legs. I am looking only at corner legs.

    Folding Leg Desk

My wife has been working from home since Covid on a folding plastic table which is not so attractive in our lounge (apparently!) She wants the same design - the four legs fold in each side and then the table folds completely in half thus containing the folded legs so it’s easily stored when...

    Rust in my little workshop

I find easiest way to remove a film of rust is a non-woven pad (red) with WD40. Wipe off residue with blue roll and apply machine wax. 10 mins to do planer/thicknesser.

    Portable Media-blaster

I need a media-blaster for paint/rust removal from motorcycle parts. I have seen YT reviews on this model which is sold under many brands it seems. Does anyone have any experience of these please?

    Porsche

I agree about the ease of getting in and out - it's the only thing I miss about not having a Range Rover anymore. My daily now is a 5 series BMW which I find is very low for daily use. Saying that, it is far more fun being a 3 litre twin turbo! Almost as fast as the 911 and, with four wheel...

    Porsche

I ran Range Rovers for years with a 911 in the garage. Was never even remotely tempted by the Cayenne and the Macan is neither one nor the other. Now my 911 (991 Carrera S) is over 3 years old it has extended warranty which costs around £75 /mth. Range Rover extended warranty was £161 a month...
