    NVR switch for Router table

I expect the A1 is useful for microswitches too. These can be put in series as any one of them will make the coil go open when not closed.

    NVR switch for Router table

Yes, I just took another look at the photo on the Axminster site. The photo on this datasheet shows an empty spade connector hole on A1, so I guess some models of the switch have an internal connection instead: https://www.axminstertools.com/media/do ... heet_1.pdf I think of hum and buzz as...

    NVR switch for Router table

I'll have to take a look in the morning, but if mine has the A1 connector, I didn't use it and the switch works as expected (although that doesn't seem to make sense as the coil would not be in circuit). Mine had the same paddle switch, but perhaps the NVR part is different.

    NVR switch for Router table

Those switches both have the same part number - KJD17. Having taken another look, I see that there are a number of wiring diagrams for these on the internet. Some specify the order of the wiring, while others don't. Sorry for the red red herring - for a simple NVR switch, it shouldn't matter...

    NVR switch for Router table

I just installed one of those. Mine doesn't hum. If you find the datasheet - it's available somewhere on the Axminster website - you'll see that the live and neutral are supposed to go to specific lugs. Live in to 23 Neutral in to 13 Live out from 24 Neutral out from 14 p.s. it probably uses...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

Yes, the switch is a bit fugly, but the drill is neither particularly pretty or collectable. I'm also prone to drilling things that are not clamped down. If I get sick of looking at it, I can also move/ rotate it to sort flat on the side, which is a little less intrusive. The other switch would...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

Finished wiring this up. Guessed the motor wiring correctly, so spun up in the correct direction (sorry for the poor photo, but forgot to take one before bolting the motor back on and had to take this upside down): This is how I placed the new switch. Figured a panic switch would be helpful...

    NVR switch for Router table

I just installed one in a pillar drill. It has a big flappy off switch and uses spade connectors, which are not difficult to work with. About £15 from Axminster. Some of the switches have a higher current rating than others, while others will have extra terminals for microswitches. Some also...

Inca euro 260 - wiring issues

Took a closer look. Mine doesn't have a Hoover motor - sorry, not sure where I got that idea. It's actually a Leroy Somer, made in France in '92. The badge on my saw says it was made in '93.

    Startright Mercury rattle

I tried getting the pulley off recently. There are 2 grub screws in each side and mine had seized. I gave up in the end. Did you check a loose body panel for the rattle?

    Difference in wood colour..?

I've come across quite a lot of ash as it is popular as the body for electric guitars. It usually looks like the bigger piece of timber you have there. I can't imagine your timber will lighten as it dries and I wonder if the smaller piece you have is sapwood. Did you see the timber from the...

Inca euro 260 - wiring issues

I think there have been a few different types of motor and switch arrangement on these. I have a hoover motor on mine and an original (I think) NVR switch mounted in the throat section of the body. I'm happy to have a closer look at the wiring if yours is/was built like that?

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

Yes, using the same part for both 1 and 3 phase motors makes sense. I assume the on-off-on-off made sense for some reason. I could dismantle it to see if there is an obvious answer in how they are made, but will leave that until if/when I decide I don't need it any more. If I put the rotary...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

Having now spent some time with a multimeter, it seems the rotary switch is in fact on-off-on-off. Must have misremembered or never tried reverse. One of the brochures mentions a reverse switch is an option, but I can't see how this one could be wired to do this - it doesn't have enough...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

OK, I stand corrected and have learnt something this morning. The auxillary winding will have higher resitance and lower inductance. The rotary switch is forward - off - reverse - off. I don't have a handy photo, but this shows it nicely:

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

Yes, this looks like a resitance start motor. For those of you following along at home, this may be helpful if you are not familar with these: https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/textbook/alternating-current/chpt-13/single-phase-induction-motors/ The auxilary winding should be signficanly lower...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

And here is a wiring diagram. Not sure if the second wire from the rotary switch to the bottom lug is needed, but may be depending on how the rotary switch works. That's the next job. I'm pretty sure the contact switch is normally open, but it's at the bottom of the motor and with the weight...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

More progress today. Wiring is starting to make sense as it appears (well I'm guessing) to be standardised so the same switch and motor parts for singe and 3 phase motors. Not sure how much use of interest this will be, but is a good way to document what I'm doing so I hopefully can get...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

I managed to pull out 2 grub screws from the front pulley and one longer one from the rear. Can't see anything else, but it's not easy to see what's at the bottom of the screw hole. I was planning on taking a heat gun to the pulleys and will proceed with care. The front pully has already lost...

    Startrite Bantam (drill) refurb

I've found a few Mercury refurbs on here, but nothing about the wiring. Many have 3 phase motors anyway and I'm curious about the motor wiring. What's the unused connection for? I managed to get the grub screws out of the pulleys by filing down an allen key. Of course the pulleys are still...
