    Maybe plug a kettle in and measure the voltage would be a fair indicator of the robustness of the wiring, I know it is not the same as a motor due to power factors, but the motors the OP is running don't sound very big.

    HELP - New NVR switch does NOT stay on :(

    Ref Paul's diagram if the themal cutout is open circuit there will be no live supply to the NVR and it won't latch, although the motor will run when the button is pressed. This fits the OPs description of the problem.

    UJK, Trend and some others sell a Mini Pocket hole Jig which solves this problem in wood thickness down to 12.7mm by using a smaller size bit.

    Dowel drill Collars

    My solution is to make long spacers from 12 or 15mm wooden dowel rod by drilling through the centre and cutting to the required length so as to produce a (say) 21mm hole for a 40mm x 8mm dowel. These can be pushed onto the bit and are stopped from riding up by fixing the collar to the solid part...
