Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

Don't be too impressed, that was after a soak in a dilute solution of citric acid for 5 or so hours and then a light going over with a very soft wire brush. Looked like this before.... The saw sat in a warehouse unused since the mid 1980s and had a uniform coat of what we call "barn rust" over...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Yes, the machined bit the "hub" part of the riving knife assembly (still not sure what to call that thing) rides on. Mine looks like the intern did it with not much supervision. I'm hoping to get the saw out tomorrow to get the fence rail re-mounted after I got it cleaned up today, so I'll see...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Hi Deema, could you re-attach that picture at a higher resolution? I'm interested in seeing it in more detail if possible... the pic you have there doesn't enlarge when I click on it...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Does that hub bit sit snugly against the snap ring? I.E. no fore-aft movement on the arbor housing? I'm assuming it must if the manual is suggesting what it does as far as shimming it by moving the actual arbor as I can't imagine there is a ton of adjustablility in it... But, like I said I...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Ah, Ok. I have not spent any time on reading up on that bit of the saw yet, so I'll spend more time on it once I get to that part... Makes more sense though. I'll probably need additional advice by the time I get to that point I'm guessing. It does lead me to believe that the "hub" part of...

Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

So, the "cogs" (for lack of a better word) were much finer than I remembered. My Google Pixel 3 camera doesn't have a 'macro' or whatever you call the close up mode. I'll see if I can get my digital camera to get a better close up tomorrow when there is better light. There was a marine layer...

Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

I got busy with all kinds of stupid random stuff, but I'll have time to take some nice pictures this weekend. I'm not sure I would be able to get the angle, but I should be able to get the measurements between the "cogs" and it should be able to be worked out from that. They were smaller than i...

Anyone need a Wadkin AGS10/12 riving knife?

Uhhhhh, not sure how I missed this thread, but this is totally cool. Also used to run business development for Autodesk AutoCAD, so extra credit for using DXF files. ;) Currently trying to get set up to properly fab a true riving knife set up for my AGS 10. Here are my relevant threads. I'll...

Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

I actually can take a pic of the rack as well if needed. I just happen to have it in a piece of cut off drain pipe full of a very dilute citric acid solution at the moment, so when I pull it out sometime tomorrow I can get a quick picture of it. Do you need it to show anything in particular? or...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Hmmm, not 100% sure what you mean by this. Are you talking about shimming the entire arbor assembly as it mounts to the trunion? Also how did the mating surface (for the hub bit that goes around the arbor housing) on the outside of the arbor housing look on your saw? The machining on mine looks...

Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

Just to clarify. This is off a saw that was listed as a 1979 AGS 10 in case these things changed over the years. Fence is the one in the picture attached (my saw).

Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

Here are some better pictures. I think the one on my fence is in pretty decent condition and I'll upload the pictures at full resolution (not sure if this site will truncate them or not) so you should be able to zoom in and get a nice view of the profile. the measurements I got were: - The...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Wow, This is amazing. That is pretty much everything I will probably need. Are all the bits that attach to the main bar meant to bring the riving knife into direct alignment with the blade? Or are they meant to have spacers as well? Also hadn't realized that the "vertical link" attached...

Wadkin AGS fine fence adjust dimensions help

I can measure mine tomorrow if what you are looking for is the fine adjust off the AGS10. The outer diameter as well as the parts of the shaft that the bronze "bearings" ride on will matter as well, so it engages properly with the underside of the fence bars.

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Hi There, Sorry about that. I wasn't 100% sure if there were any issues with adding links to other forums on here, but if not here is the link: http://www.owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=212973 He is fabricating the full set up... just the older version non "parallelogram" style. His trunion...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Someone on another forum fabbed up the riving knife assembly that went on earlier versions of the AGS10, but they had a template to work from. In this case unless I can find someone who can measure all the various bits I'm going to have to fabricate something and do a little trial and error...

    Timber Cladding for Extension

If you are willing to prep the boards and finish them before putting them up the first time I've been hugely impressed with the look of OSMO hard wax oils. They have some products for external use with UV inhibitors in them and as long as the wood remains undamaged re-application is very easy...

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Figured i would bump this thread again in hopes that someone who has an AGS 10 being restored or partially disassembled might be able to help with the riving knife component dimensions. Definitely still hoping to fabricate one of these up as part of the saw restore process! Thanks!

Remaking a WB AGS 10 riving knife assembly

Hi Heimlaga, Thank you for the tip! I was able to find his thread on that site. Strangely, the three seasons of Wallander that I watched didn't help me as much as I was hoping they would, but luckily he did an entire write up in English. :) Once I figured out how to register and log-in I could...

Hi Vann, I sent you a PM back, but I'm not sure if it went though or not as it didn't show up in my sent messages, so lmk if you don't see it for whatever reason...
