(use a long say 6mm auger as guide) Then remove centre plug by any means ( could do a few them mortice a line through the middle of the holes...

First post, and straight in with a question! :-) (FLB GATES)

if you want to be fancy you can lay your braces onto the door and chop them in so they engage positively against the rail. Like so. most doors ususally just have the braces cut in tightly and nailed to the rail and the boards, make the braces 2mm ish thinner if doing this way as when the...

Scribed Joints to Skirting using a Router and Jig?

i see what you mean, if you had all your lengths measured then you could cut the scribes before you get to site, and have all the length cut roughtly.... save no-end of time. the only issue i can see is that the router will not cut the back away so if your joint is over 90 degrees then there...

    Spindle Block advice please?

How much was the machine and is it in good nick? they fetch good money (or seem to) so if the cost of the machine and new cutter heads is less than its worth surely it would be economical to buy them/safer and easier too. although obviously its useable like that, with a sharpen, as that is how...

    Spindle Block advice please?

plus the fact there are big recesses(sp) in the block and no limiting device means that if you happen to come into contact with the cutter, it is quite likely to drag you in as opposed to cutting and hitting you away.... looks like a multico? can get a block with built in scribing cutters...

    Door construction/joinery

I would run th boards right down, they can be replaced then, leving the door looking like new again, i tend to use the full bottom rail on front door type applications/ covered areas/open in doors. Used in more critical locations, as the thicker rail prevends the stiles distorting more. If your...

    sedgwick or felder

agreed on the age thing, but modern machinescome with ease of use, ergonomics, saftey and repetitive use considderations. bearing quality is purely down to how much you spend, i was told the bem bearings were replaced 10 years ago, and were due to be done again when i left....and when i did the...

    Titebond Shelf life

check it first... joints could have been extra resinous, wrong moisture content, left in the sun heat for too long etc... when it gets hot, its a reall pita with joints cracking.

    Door construction/joinery

if you have a 44mm stile and are boarding both sides with 12mm boards, then your left with a 20mm thick bottom and middle rails, be very carefull glueing up as you will have very little shoulder to clamp aginst even if using a 12mm mortice. remember to paint the board grooves while assembling...
