    Shed suppliers

Another vote for Tiger sheds. Mines been up for 4 years. Still looks new. All wood. No chipboard roof or floor panels. Good customer service.

    Dust Extraction-external venting

You could make your mock up out of old cardboard boxes to give you an idea of size and sighting. Just a thought.

    A lightbulb moment, but...

Re high pitched whine from LED’s I had this from a bathroom fitting with LED’s. This turned out to be the switch was incorrectly wired. The switch was on the neutral not live side. Maybe connected (no pun intended) when we first got this house I discovered that the whole house was reverse...

    New to turning

Just make sure the Nova will take an M33 insert. From memory I don’t think it will. The M33 version is directly threaded. The record power Chuck will take an M33 insert, I know as ive got one. Good luck, welcome to the world of turning.

    Overboarding a landing

Hi. Re fireplace. How about boarding up to it. Seal the edge where wood meets concrete, then use self leveling compound to level up to the plywood. The concrete looks a bit out of level so if you overboard I don’t think you’ll get a good match.

Axminster Chucks, are they worth the money

Thanks. I’ve looked at the Versachuck site. Very interesting. I might go down that route instead of an Axminster.

Axminster Chucks, are they worth the money

Dear All I have a record Record Power SC4 Chuck on my lathe. The accessory jaws seem to have a slight runout. The body of the Chuck seems ok. I have fitted the jaws loose then tightened the Chuck then a final tighten of the jaws To centre them. Its not too bad a runout but its there. I have...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

Re bath insulation. I‘ve recently refurbed the bathroom and when installing the bath I glued that bubble wrap type insulation to the underside. I also replaced damaged floorboards and sprayfoamed any gaps around pipes and floor boards. The Mrs reports the bath stays lovely and warm and doesn’t...

    Plywood for cabinets

Hi. I made a rolling miter saw stand out of 18mm non structural ply from Wickes. It’s not deflected a millimetre. Your idea of doubling up ply will be plenty strong enough IMO. I have shelves made of the same ply which are not that well supported that have hardly bowed at all. So I would say...

    Garage floor levelling

Mines been down a good couple of years. It’s unpainted. In the non foot traffic areas it’s as it was laid. In the middle where I walk it’s lost it’s surface shine but otherwise good. I would like to paint it as I think it would make it look a bit smarter and resist the odd spill. Other than that...
