Workshop lighting upgrade advice required please.

+2 for the 600x600 panels. I have 4 in a standard single garage. They are 3600lm and 6500k so basically daylight balanced. It’s like working outside. No shadows, colours are true, no eye strain. The light is very diffuse, so no harsh glares. I have a 600mm led batten fixed under a shelf near my...

    Moving heavy machinery

Could you use a hydraulic car jack with some decent sized wood to jack up the saw. Place the wood vertically under the table onto the jack. Jack it up and place rollers or wheels etc underneath.

Successful router dust collection with CamVac

I have a 2 motor Camvac and when it’s running 100mm hose on one motor all is fine, but run 63mm hose on one motor and the idle motor outlet allows air to be drawn in thus reducing the suction. I have fitted a homemade blast gate to the second motor outlet to shut it off when not in use, this...

    Tormek T4 Advice

You can now buy an upgraded stainless steel shaft to stop the corrosion issue. If the old shaft is left long enough, the rust can build up and crack the stone. So rust prevention is a very good idea.

DeWalt table saw from Workinger Ltd - anyone heard of this seller?

I’ve just looked up their address on Google maps. It looks like an empty building but I can’t see when Google maps have updated the image. But an industrial unit exists at that address. If that’s of any help.

Carpet Tiles in a Workshop - Thoughts (Good or Bad Idea?)

Hi. Have you thought about self levelling compound. It will cover all the undulations in the original floor, and give a very hard flat surface for wheeled equipment. A coat of paint will make it more spill resistant. You can then use foam floor matting where you stand for long periods. It’s a...

Personalised markings for items you have made

Hi. I’ve got a laser pecker. They work well. Got mine from ebay for a couple hundred quid. The app is free and is easy to use. I use it to burn my maker mark into my turning projects. But it has loads of other possibilities.

    Have you noticed....

With all these defective lights and other issues, the governments response is to increase the time between MOT’s to two years. Utter madness. 30% of 1st time MOT’s fail. At least now we have some hope of catching the defects in a year.
