New EU power tool battery rules from 2025

It was an April Fools joke. They do one every year. I think the give away was when they mentioned the skid plate marking as a Skid Mark. Who unless it was April Fools would call it a SKID MARK ! They even said pay attention to the launch date of 1st April.

Obviously my system is different. I apologise for any confusion.

    Plumbing problem...

Yes, but you isolate the vessel first from the hot tank. It should have an isolation valve before the vessel. Then as you put air in the vessel the excess water comes out of the opened hot water tap. This is of course if the expansion vessel is indeed on the hot water side. The reason for the...

Alternative to the festool ETS EC150

You can get anti vibration gloves. This might help your hands while you decide on a new sander. The gloves are a lot cheaper than a new sander😀

    Plumbing problem...

Is the expansion vessel on the hot water system. Because if it is you need to open a hot water tap to relieve the pressure to put air into the vessel. That’s what I had to do on my system. I isolated the vessel by way of a valve from the hot water tank, then opened a hot water tap. Then as I...

    Vacuum Pump recommendations

Hi all. I want to use a vacuum chuck on my lathe. Does anyone have a recommendation for a vacuum pump. I’ve seen vacuum generators that use compressed air. But was wondering about how a vacuum pump compared. All thoughts gratefully received.

    Phillips / Posidriv Screwdrivers

Plus 1 for Wera. I’ve had and used mine for years and they are still in very good condition. As Sideways says the handle ergonomics are very comfortable and transmit all the torque from your hand to the blade.

    Power tool storage...

I started organising tools and supplies into boxes and the Tstak system when I stared renovating houses. This was because I was spending a considerable amount of time looking for tools. I also had duplicate tools, of which only one or two were my preferred ones. The others just got in the way...

+1 for shadow foam. I’ve used it on 3 boxes now. Easy to cut. The waste foam peels out easily after you give it a little nick to start it off. Looks very impressive once done.

Shed on a steep slope project - retaining wall question

I went through all the thought processes as you when I was planning a retaining wall in my back garden. I was desperately trying not to build a proper wall. I looked a gabion cages, interlocking blocks, all sorts of stuff. In the end I built a proper concrete block wall. It’s was a lot easier...

    Work Gloves

i‘ve been using these. They keep my hands warm, have extra grip due to the rubber coating. They are thin enough to feel what you’re doing. The big advantage is that the fingers will detach if they get caught in machinery. So I feel they’re ok for lathe work. I’ve not tested the theory though...

    The British Gas chat line

A friend on mine has been in dispute with British Gas for a year. His meter went wrong and It recorded usage multiplied by a factor of 4. To cut a very long story short, it took 2 referrals to the ombudsman just to get an engineer to check the meter, which promptly died when disconnected, then...

    First workbench

Nice one. I made a similar bench a few years back. It’s invaluable. You’ll get a lot of use from it.
