    My third project

Waka in response to your question i have screwed the top box to the bottom one. I have routed a groove to allow for movement. I will try to take a better picture but photography is not my strongpoint.

    Forum Users Routers

I have just got a festool OF1400 i have not used it in anger yet but design wise it is awesome. I am downsizing my collection from hitachi m12v which has been fantastic in a table for various skirting work i have done. A dewalt 625ek which i got on a low bid on ebay never really used and just...

    My third project

Ok after my workbench this is first project after my workbench. ITs a frasier (TV) inspired occasional type thing. Its made out of pippen oak and walnut. The boxes are dovetailed and the sub table are made of mortice and tenon joints. The finish is chesnut finishing oil and wax. Not sure i have...

Estate agent - guilty as charged!

i Have to say advertising is expensive so if it looks to be good to be true. These sell yourself packs are a waste of time. Solicitors refusing to deal with agents is often why estate agents is often way they look stupid because you know there is a legal problem they just don't tell us therby...

    New M12V

I have the old M12v which i am selling due to space constraints but i noticed the new m12v collets protrudes through the base for router change. As i use mine in a table this would have been handy.

    City and Guild Stool's

Nice work like the bull nose work on the larger stool. Making something similar myself and wished i had thought of that.

Estate agent - guilty as charged!

With regards to sales progression this one was the final straw for me. You negotiate like hell to get the best price for your vendor and build a bond of trust between sellor and vendor then the corporates want you to pass it on to a sales progressor. These are often in a call centre and...

Estate agent - guilty as charged!

sorry don't mean to infer any greed to present company but i worked in city centre areas in the boom time and i might be a little twisted sorry  Basically hate the way corporates have finished of estate agents. Most negs can't even do the basics it is a disgrace. They go "its a nice house"...

Estate agent - guilty as charged!

Just to confess again i am an estate agent. I worked for a small agent selling houses for 5years. We fault a losing war with the corporates whom promised the earth and did little. I visited every property i sold but this costs money and gradually people wanted smaller fees etc. How can you sell...

How accurate should a SCMS be?

i have an Hitachi f10FSH the laser version. It is buit like a brick toilet house thing. It seems incredibly accurate. It is up to the normal hitchi standard ie tank like. I might have to sell it though as it takes up space i could use. Shame as i have only had it for 6months. I bought it rashly...

crazy not do do some of your basic carpentry?

Not casting critism of people in the medical trade. All i am saying is their is a massive difference between what people what people get paid. This is not always fair. People rarely dispute paying doctors huge wages (not saying this is right or wrong) yet they will quible over a manual service...

crazy not do do some of your basic carpentry?

I have to say we employ on the CIS card quite a few chippies at work on a semi retained basis and they seem to be typically £150 per a day. Mind you we pay petrol etc. It seems to me at present thay are well payed due to the building boom and lack of apprentices coming through as most of ours...

    Benchtop table saw

I know what you are saying, but i like the idea of keeping the festool for the big sheet cuts an having a seperate saw for smaller work. I don't do this for a living i just fancy a new toy. I have a good mitre saw that has good capacity (hitachi c10fsh) but it is great for cutting to length but...

    Benchtop table saw

I think the festool system uses the same system but a bit a pricey for me.

    Benchtop table saw

I have been looking for a compact bench top saw. I have tried to follow the pros and cons of all the different saw. I am now just confused. After using the festool rail system for a while which i think is great i am just getting frustrated with cutting smaller pieces of timber neatly and...

    Dovetails show the craftsman

Just a quick note. I cut the tails in pairs as described but i think when i cut the pins one of the boards must have slipped forward/back a bit pusing the pins out a bit. A basic error but i will try not to do it next time. :?

    Dovetails show the craftsman

I think i have found my fault. One of the side pieces is about 3mm forward of the rest of the pieces which i think has twisted the piece. After a bit of sweat i have squared up the sides with the plane. I will have to sand the the boxes which is a pain as i was hoping to plane them. I don't...

    Dovetails show the craftsman

Right then. I am fairly happy with the joints individually. However when putting the box together they have warped it. I think i have a side that is not square or a set of joints are slightly forward are back to the other. Anyway the pictures are below. The box rocks when placed on a flat sevice...

    Dovetails show the craftsman

Will post pictures tomorrow at moment it is just clamps with hint of wood. I have been practising a fair bit inbetween the 1st box and this one. This is why the joints are much tighter and square. I thought they would go together well. I think on reflection that the joints are all individually...

    Dovetails show the craftsman

Dovetails show the craftsman or so they say. I can only conclude this is correct as i am no craftsman and my dovetails are a mess. I have been making a box which is 40cm x 20cm x 12cm in solid walnut which i have jointed together. The opening for the drawer will be about 8 x 16 so the drawer...
