    Is it just me??

I have just bought an old spoke shave (stanley 51) off ebay i have duly sharpened the blade (30degrees) for my first spokeshaving experience. Off i go..... It just jumps all over the place, i can chamfer edges but anything else it just bounces along. I was hoping to even out a bandsaw curve but...

Interesting pieces of furniture - 7

I will get the ball rolling  i think i like this one the least, it reminds me of all that 1930's/ 1940's curved veneer furniture left behind in rented houses. It looks a little bit too manufactured and somehow the handles look wrong. Something is not quite right with the proportions...

Calling all Axminster 6" Surfacer owners:

I have got the 6inch version of the lyndhurst machine and i have to say it is one of my better purchases. The fence took a little adjustment due to a bad casting on one of the pivot nuts, however that aside it is very good very easy to adjust and leaves a very good finish. Then again i have...

Festoll Compact Modular System - Opinions?

I have got the basis 6a router table. It is very good, and is currenttly embedded in a mdf table routed to fit it. The dust collection and adjustability (sp?) is superb. I got it off ebay and my plan was to expand the system as i went. However it is just cringingly expensive. If you get the cms...

    Dry Rot

I have just moved workshop location into part of an old coach house at the back of where i work. Its obvisually had a chequered history and has been used for a variety of purposes, lastly as a design studio/workshop for a door furniture company. I just finished moving my stuff in and was...

    Bosch Belt Sander ?

I have the same snader. The dust extraction fitting from the bosch blue sanders 150ace (random orbitor) fits it fine and this is a standard round fitting. But it needs a good stong vacume to be really effective

    Chisel Thieves

No luck involved. I allocate which contracts they get over the coming year. Not that anyone has admitted anything "they must have been lying about" etc. Lying in a closed drawer more like.

    Chisel Thieves

Went to my lock up tonight where i house my tools and bench etc and had an unpleasant surprise. The lockup has had access from a bunch of sub contractors and one of them has decided to help himself to my tools. His ignorance was refreshing as he has stolen my ryobi drill bits and only nicked my...

    Router Table shopping list

I got some castors off ebay which were the screwfix ones even down to the bags that they were in, at a very good price 2/3 of full price. I have to pack all my stuff away every night in a lockup and i have two observations. 1. Big wheels make easy pushing, small wheels get stuck on every thing...
