    WORKING SURFACE

I got a 2.4m long piece of very solid work top (too heavy to lift) for £4.50 from ikea bargain corner. They discount the ones they drop on the corner and damage (slightly). I did our whole kitchen for £17 and had enough left to make a work bench. Great bargain. Very good quality...better than...

I don't think the match of groove to string has to be perfect, but if the slots are too large the string moves about (e.g. when bending notes). This can cause buzzing. This page from Frets.com explains a bit about nut slots... http://www.frets.com/FretsPages/Musician/GenSetup/Nuts/nuts3.html...

    humax & TV set up

I can confirm that the humax needs to be on in order for the aerial signal to get to your tv...ours is just the same (this wasn't the case for our old 9200T)...a bit of a pain. It's not a fault, it's designed that way...annoyingly you can't change settings to make it work without the humax...

Have a look at this Jacob!

I use a draw knife to roughly dimension wood before planing for finish...seems quicker than rip sawing or using a scrub plane to me

    Razor saw

The height of the bottom of the slot needs to be very accurate. If you position the string in a V slot it will sit just above the bottom of the V due to the string having a circular cross section. With only two points of contact strings will wear the V away to become a U shape. The string sits...

I made some from feeler gauges. They don't cut very fast...which is a distinct advantage! ;)

How I wished swmbo was there!

My late wife explained it to me like this... Every time you buy a chisel, I'm going to buy a milk jug. I was half way through saying "...but you've got loads of m..." Then a light came on! I started smuggling tools into the shed from then on!

    PC KEEPS LOSING WIRELESS INTERNET

My father in law had similar problems that I eventually tracked down to the router overheating. In the end we put the router on a cast iron trivet and it's been golden since. Could be worth checking no ventilation hole are blocked or covered...give it a little Hoover to remove dust?
