    hearing

When my wife doesn't hear me clearly, it's because I'm "not speaking loudly/clearly enough". When I don't hear her, I'm not "listening properly".

    Your Cars

My Bonneville never needed an oil change as it had a total loss oil system

But at least you could buy spare parts to fix said electrics. Diode rectifiers for alternators on my Capri were in constant demand.

Prepping a soot-stained wall prior to repainting

This may not be completely applicable in your case as you need to repaint, but oven or BBQ cleaner will get it off. I spent a very uncomfortable 3 days recently cleaning 200 years worth of wood soot off my limestone inglenook fireplace. Oven cleaner, kitchen roll and a stiff brush worked...

    I'm in the wrong job

Sounds like the way it's done in France. We had 2 years to replace the sand drain system with a compliant micro station when we bought our house. Some of the cost (about 10k€ if I remember right) was taken off the cost of the house.

    To their convenience, surely 😁

    It never happens in Europe!

It is now law in France to have all season tyres (3PMSF’ (3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake)) in certain hilly/mountainous areas . Failing that, you have to have chains or "snow socks" on the driven wheels at least. The area covered by this law is most of the eastern side of the country.

"Oily Glue" - is this a breakthrough, or just more Superglue?

It's basically super glue with an inert filler powder. Bicarbonate of soda does just the same job. You can also buy coloured powder online to use on black plastic repairs

    Workshop Butchery....

I think that you are ok if it's frozen. Not been a problem for me so far, anyway.

Isopon body filler - what a 'con' !

Isn't there a small tube of hardener in the lid? If so, then that counts towards the volume.

    Bloody officialdom....

I was told yesterday in a call to HMRC that currently it's taking 9 months to even look at incoming mail.

    Wild fires in BC Canada.

If there is an upside to this, it's that we are now more able to adjust our way of life/habitats to the changing climate. Of course it will still hurt, but it shouldn't be an extinction event for all. Only some..........

    Wild fires in BC Canada.

The French government has just passed a law mandating that all car parks with over 80 spaces have to cover at least half of the area with solar panels. Several supermarkets in the areas are busy doing just that.

    18v tool brand choice

Stanley and DeWalt are both owned by the same mother company so it's not unreasonable to assume that the technology is somewhat shared.

    18v tool brand choice

To be fair, I think that a few years ago Makita was the leading brand in France because not much else was here. It's only fairly recently that Milwaukee has made an appearance in some shops along with Ryobi. I get my Worx stuff from the big river in Germany - it's not on the shelves here yet.

    18v tool brand choice

I have a (British) mate here who has run a small building company for years. He has about half a dozen artisans, mainly Armenians but a couple of Brits as well. They are very, very hard on tools and tend to use Makita. Not a Dewalt or Milwaukee between them. I've fixed a few Bosch tools for them...
