    Stiff Combination Square blade

Much appreciated Mike. Will give that a shot. WD40 was in the back of my mind, but I was afraid to try it until someone in the know, like yourself, might suggest it : )

    Stiff Combination Square blade

Thanks a lot Trevanion ! Anything in particular you would recommend to clean the blade? It's stainless steel.

    Stiff Combination Square blade

Any suggestions as to what I might use to help my blade slide smoothly on the handle? It's quite stiff and I didn't want to try anything without some much more experienced users' advice. Much appreciated.

    DrillPilot

Thanks Mike and Duncan A for your helpful answers. Chris, you are a CHRIS among Chris's ! Thank you so much for taking such time and effort to help a fellow woodworker. You've given me a lot to think about and, at the first opportunity, I'll be practising what you suggested and, I'm sure that...

    DrillPilot

I'm not at all good at drilling 90 degree square holes and was shocked the other day when I saw that the exit hole on a hole I'd just drilled was 2 cm off from where the entry hole started. Time for a drilling aid I thought to myself. I've scoured the web and have narrowed my choices down to...

Looking for a Record 778 plane manual

Hi Dave and thanks for your reply. The reason I was looking for a manual was that I got in too much of a rush and took the Record apart and wasn't 100% sure I'd put it all back together properly so just wanted the manual for some confirmation on that.

Looking for a Record 778 plane manual

Thanks Blockplane! I'll give the Stanley a try. I got in too much of a rush and took the Record apart and wasn't 100% sure I'd put it all back together properly so just wanted the manual for some confirmation on that.

Woodpeckers BC4-M2 Box Clamp for Pocket Holes

I was almost ready to purchase the Kreg Right Angle clamp to use for making pocket holes when I came across this clamp. Has anyone used this clamp to create pocket holes? It really looks like it would work well if you watch this video @ 03:15) http://www.woodpeck.com/boxclampm2.html I'm really...

How to transfer CRISP image to wood

Thanks a lot Droogs, Will certainly give that a try. I will pretend to be a laser printer and see if I can fool the wood which I want to transfer to. Your profile shows your location as Edinburgh. Is that the same Edinburgh I live in - Scotland?

How to transfer CRISP image to wood

Thanks for your post Claymore. Yes, I've looked at dozens and dozens of videos. What you describe does sound like Mod Podge, especially where you rub all the glue off revealing your image. Maybe I'll try it again and follow the directions to the letter : )

How to transfer CRISP image to wood

Do any of you experienced scrollers transfer images to wood? I'd love t be able to do this with the attached letters as, if I just glued a photo to the wood, I would have a white background that I don't want. If the image itself could be transferred directly to the wood, the white background...

Importing aand using sanding maching from USA..or?

Take a look at Rutlands home page: http://www.rutlands.co.uk/ and you'll see an exact clone of the Ridgid machine for £170. I might be in the market for this myself some day as it looks better than chocolate milk: )

    Hegner vs. Excalibur EX21

Hi Scrimper, No I don't plan on buying that one at all, especially after all the helpful info you have given me. That was just one that I could actually see the machine number and I thought that might be an indication of age. So, once again, much appreciate your help and I did find the hand and...

    Hegner vs. Excalibur EX21

Scrimper, Yer a gem of a lad an' so ye are ! Thanks so much for that very necessary information. I have been looking carefully for a machine that does have the tell-tale lever of which you mention and will now not consider any machine unless it does. I'm off to have another search on ebay with...

    Hegner vs. Excalibur EX21

Hi Bryan Thanks a lot. Yes that gives me an idea at least, approximately. The one on ebay is 13,000 machines newer than yours. Let's guess that Hegner makes 50 machines a week. Then this machine on ebay is about 260 weeks or 5 maybe 6 years newer than yours making it approximately 14 years old...

    Hegner vs. Excalibur EX21

I wonder if by any chance someone can tell me how to determine the age of a Hegner. I've found one on ebay and the machine number (Masch.-Nr.) is 939435. I've searched on Google with no luck. Thanks in advance.

    Hegner vs. Excalibur EX21

Hi Scrimper, Thanks ever so much firstly for taking your very valuable time to watch the video and for your clear and concise explanation. It's very comforting to know that the Hegner's process of re-inserting the blade is almost identical to the Excalibur because that could have been the deal...
