Sous Vide Recipes. What are your best/favourite/proven uses? All suggestions welcome.

Thanks Chris, I am an exceedingly unadventurous eater well set in my ways and pretty much incapable (unwilling?!) of change. My wife will cheerfully testify to this. She still laughs out loud at the memory of watching me eat street food in Vietnam. I just get a little peed off when people tell...

    Live edge console table

Really nice job for a first piece of furniture, - well done! Taste is so subjective that like or dislike is almost meaningless. Bit chunky for me but if if it works for you who cares? :) You appear to have learnt loads in the process so it's a resounding success and on to the next! And well...

Sous Vide Recipes. What are your best/favourite/proven uses? All suggestions welcome.

And pray tell what's wrong with properly cooked food?! :) Can't stand meat that's still mooing and then being criticised for wanting it cooked the way I want it. This sous-vide thing is boil in the bag yes? :)

    Imperial vs Metric

And that's exactly what happens when you mix measurements! (sorry Andy, - couldn't resist!)

    Building a timber rack?

I use some of the heavier duty lip and spur shelving (4 'uprights' to help spread the weight) This allows for me to reorganise (ha!) if I want. Can get a surprisingly large amount of timber on a set of these.

Replace table saw with bandsaw and track saw.

If you can swing an 8ft sheet around and through your table saw then you must have a decent sized workshop and table saw? I used to have a big table saw but would never have felt safe doing that, - must be something of a wuss?! Like most people who ask the question the answer is 'it depends', -...

    Birch ply dovetail

I tried it, - once! What a mess, improved as Custard says with a front and back board but lining up accurately every time was a royal pain and in my opinion not worth the effort. I ended up rebating with dowels on some pretty big drawers and they've been fine for a number of years.

    Tax on house sales

No!! Everyone knows they're into catering, - how else would they know about cooking the books?!

Veneered box WIP - picture heavy.

That is a really nice piece of work and a great write up. Thank you for taking the time to do it. Your cutter is an excellent piece of kit and I wondered if you be prepared to show a bit more of how it goes together? Would appear to take some of the pain out of veneering (but only some!).

    MFT Question

Have a look at some of Peter Millard's excellent videos on you tube. He uses an MFT set up extensively and has loads of useful advice.

Curry's. - Do NOT buy anything from them at the moment.

Not aware South Korea have pi**ed off the whole world unless you know something I don't?

Dying my beard without making a mess in the bathroom

Phil, Every time I see your picture I want to shout that you've put your head on upside down!

The Wheel of Time at Last Begins to Turn

Wonderful news. I lost my best mate to non hodgkin lymphoma 15 years ago and the the week after his funeral my missus was diagnosed with CML. There is some fantastic research out there and the latest drugs mean she's been in remission for 4 years now and could actually be regarded as 'cured' in...

    Road Tax rates

In which case they'll just find something else to tax (tyres, screenwash, USB ports?)

Is pressurised hot water worth it, with oil?

We have an oil fired combi and we're generally very happy with it. My only minor moan is it doesn't give me the flow rate I'd like for the shower, - but on the other hand the wife thinks it's fine (so really it's fine then!). In six months of hot water only we've used just over 65 litres of oil...

    Hinge jigs

I've not long that ago finished hanging 11 oak veneer doors into existing openings and considered a jig but nothing can do both the door and lining unless you spend what to me was silly money (I'm not a pro doing this for a living!). Shoot your doors to size (I tried for penny gap all round...

    Training apprentices

Congratulations on taking on an apprentice. Consider contacting your local collage or one of the other training organisations (CITB?) and see what advice they can provide. It needs to be structured and I would suggest you find a way of recording what he's been told as you may need to consider...

    Outdoor end grain sealer?

New decking project is going to require much cutting of posts etc and I always like to put something on the ends in the vague hope of preventing the uptake of moisture. I know I'm sort of chasing the rainbow but as I can't do what my Dad used to do (old engine oil and paraffin!) what's the best...

20th Century Colour Add Vise. Fitted it! (Finally).

Chris, That looks superb 'naked' (ooh matron!) and I'd vote to leave it as it is now. However, it might look good 'suited' with your morticer if you go for orange lettering. Stuart

    Best paint for ...

Phil, - I've used the ronseal anti mould emulsion for a couple of small bathrooms and not had and mould issues. But mind you, didn't have any to start with!
