Who is in and who is out?

Why should they call an election? Much as I dislike the Tories they are just delivering against their manifesto (unusual I know but there you go!). What will be interesting is to watch them try and put the Tory party back together again!

Who is in and who is out?

This is clearly going to rumble on until June 23 :D It's been mostly friendly which is a good thing! The EU clearly has a lot of work to do to and there are aspects of it's activity that are impossible to justify (e.g. decamping en mass to Strasbourg is inexcusable). Of course getting 28...

Isle of Man TT TV coverage schedule.

Michael Dunlop lap record of 133.393 mph!  First ever sub 17 minute lap I believe. I nearly filled my underwear just watching them. Incredible stuff indeed. Shame about the fatalities but I'm afraid that's the TT.

So much for discouraging incandescent light bulbs

Oh dear, - if they're 'banned' why can I still buy them in my local hardware shop?!

    Covenants

It is actually a very complicated area and it has been modified but not stopped. If you get 'caught' by chancel repair it can be very expensive. A quick search found a number of cases although they tend to be older ones. We're in the process of moving and on the advice of our solicitor...

Who is in and who is out?

I find it interesting how each 'side' has its particular spin. For example, that article makes much of the dastardly EU reduction in vacuum cleaner power. On the face of it a good example of an overbearing approach from that damned Jonny foreigner! However, if you take a more considered...

Did anyone watch Evans's "Top Gear?"

I remember well when the 'new' top gear with Clarkson et al first started. It felt dire and the presenters took quite a while to gel properly. I just think it needs a chance to settle in and for people to get used to it. I thought it a bit strange but then everyone is comparing it to the old...

    bike lanes again

Well I don't care what any of you think or say, - I use a jig for sharpening and will continue to do so!

    bike lanes again

For which you need training, pass a test together with insurance, roadworthyness test and of course taxes (road fund and insurance). Cyclists need none of these. Bit one sided isn't it?

    Covenants

I find that a bit of a sweeping generalisation. Many properties have innocuous covenants the most common being in relation to hanging washing at the front of the property! Others of course have significant restrictions. We're just about to move to a bungalow built in the mid 90's and it has...

Type of plywood used for making wardrobes/cabinets?

£40 for 8 x 4 18mm birch ply seems incredibly cheap to me. As has been said above at that price I'd be biting arms off. You also might not need 18mm, - think about 15 and 12 for some aspects (drawers etc). 12mm is much stronger than I thought it would be. You need to make sure it truly is birch...

    Brexit The Movie

The sad truth is nobody really knows what will happen whether we leave or stay. Unfortunately by the time the 'real truth' is known it may well be neigh on impossible to do anything about it. For example, if we leave and it all goes chest up will they have us back? Highly unlikely. Arguably...

    Pelotons

I have decided that from this point onwards when someone is talking out of their rear waste disposal orifice they shall be deemed to be 'talking Jacobs'. Just about sums it up!

    Pelotons

I don't like the arrogance that some have when they don't make any contribution to road upkeep. They demand rights but don't appear to have any responsibilities!

Do you appreciate mouth organ music?

Has to be on a par with stuff made of pallet wood! :D :D :D

    Current Magazines

I currently take both F&C and FWW. I think the current editor of F&C is doing a great job of trying to make it more relevant to it's audience which is probably advanced rather than beginner although it does do a bit of both. Obviously FWW has a load of of Americanisms but I surprised myself...

Garage workshop - letting the light in

I changed my metal up and over to wooden with windows. The extra light made a huge difference. However, as others have said rooflights provide more and better light so if you can I'd go for those. The cheapest way to insulate the door is to fix extratherm (or similar) as a sort of 'wall' or...
