    Lack of puff.

Not sure of your particular saw, but usually there is a bellows which is 'pumped' every time the arm pivots. Its possible your bellows are perished or has a hole in it which is therefore preventing air flow down the blower pipe. Steve

    Deleted thread?

Deleted I suspect - not surprisingly given the contents. A note from mods would be helpful however, in such instances - not because I disagree with the decision, but to prevent the 'what happened' threads that inevitably follow and further publicise the original article which now cannot be seen...

    Lyndhurst Woodworking

Erm, given the title and most of this thread is that someone has tried and failed, apparently multiple times, to do exactly what you are proposing, it would appears to be a difficult market to say the least. One of the main problems with big bits of kit, whether they are excellent or not, is...

    Morticer vs Pillar Drill

AFAIK you can get a morticer attachment for a drill, but not vice versa. So get a drill if anything. Morticing attachments are not that good though, I was advised to go for a seperate dedicated morticer. Steve

    Lyndhurst Woodworking

I had my eye on a DEFT saw (until first the price went up and then the company went t*ts up) but I have to say I personally wouldn't even consider importing a single item direct from China no matter what the price. Too many variables to consider, including VAT, shipping, possible non-delivery...

    Morticer vs Pillar Drill

In short - weight. My morticer is extremely heavy and has a dovetailed slide for pinpoint accuracy even though is a relatively cheap machine. It also has an xy table adjustment which is very useful. My pillar drill does not need to be anything like as strong as the drill bit does the cutting -...

    Wenge Pencil Box

There is a season for box making?! I may well have broken the law by making them at any time then  Nice box by the way! Steve

    Dishwasher help - electrical fault

Time for a new one, or at least a service visit. Dishwashers and washing machines are one of the biggest sources of house fires. People believe because they use water and are mostly metal they are fine. We all then tend to put them on before going to bed or going out :? Steve

Anyone out there work for a drug company?

But starch is a complex sugar. Its not a raw wheat product and therefore, if pure starch, will not contain gluten!

Anyone out there work for a drug company?

As an aside, your first link requires a login, your second link is to an American site and the third link could be to anyone, medical or not. From the language I would again suggest an American origin. Its simply a list of drugs with no indication of brand (trade) name or deirvative and I would...

Anyone out there work for a drug company?

No contraindication for gluten or coeliac disease for co-amoxiclav in BNF Roger, but diarrhoea is a possible side effect on just about every drug you can take, including co-amoxiclav. Given the duration of most drugs, particularly antibiotics, tends to be short, I suspect the presence of small...

Anyone out there work for a drug company?

It should say on the patient leaflet if this is the case, either under ingredients or under possible side effects. Drug companies are extremely keen to cover their backsides for any possible adverse drug reaction - hence the length of most patient information leaflets. If it doesn't say on the...

Yep - very happy with the Tormek I bought from you! Steve

    using gold leaf paint

Never done it, but recall people using 'size' as an adhesive for the gold leaf - the sort that comes as a foil sheet from craft shops. If you mean paint as in paint then sorry, no idea! Steve.

    Timber length through a PT

Bob - you're a genius! You have just prompted one of those flashes of insight which I get all too rarely. Of course I don't need a 5ft length of 9mm timber - so why on earth am I trying to generate one?! I have been tending to follow the rule of keep it as long as you can as long as you can...

    Timber length through a PT

I try not to, but I find with 12mm stock its extrememly difficult, if not impossible, to put enough pressure on the timber to run it over the jointer without taking the bow out - especially if you use a long hold down pad. Too loose and the cutter head 'chatters' the timber, too hard and you...

Brick wall tool - useful or con?

Thanks guys - a range of opinions as always! I think I will risk a punt of £30 and get one (sorry Mike!) and if its still awful then I will pay a brickie. If as you say Mike its an easy skill to pick up, then all I have lost is £30 minus what I can flog it for on e-bay. Steve.

    Timber length through a PT

I have been using the Axminster CT150 6" joiner and 330 thicknesser to convert rough stock this weekend. Taking some 1" oak and bandsawing in half, a 5ft plank showed considerable bowing when cut - fair enough with thin stock and released stresses etc. Last time this happened I just ran the...

Brick wall tool - useful or con?

I need to build a brick wall in the garden, only 500mm high but with a couple of taller pillars, it will be topped by railings but its in the front so needs to look good. I have done a bit of brickwork before but only average DIY stuff and internal so covered over. If I am going to do the front...

    Alfa 8C

Why not save yourself approximately £160,000 and buy a motorbike then? A nice R1, with araprovich end cans that will make your ears bleed , and you can smoke the alpha away from any set of traffic lights you care to mention  Steve
