    Moister Meter

Hi all, I was just wondering what recommendations people have for a reasonably priced moister meter. Cheaper the better obviously but I would like something that works. I have been looking around and seen some for £10 but not sure if they are all that, would the £20 is ones be more of a good...

    Rough sawn timber

Ok thanks, Not got the room at the moment for a planer thicknesser but its on a list to buy when I do have the room. So hand plane and electric plane is all I have so maybe its worth it to just get it done at my wood merchants (unless it is that much difference in cost). Cheers, for the info...

Hi marcros Thanks for the details, raised a good point about seeing defects and that early instead of doing a load of work planing only to find them later. Cheers Mark

    Rough sawn timber

Hi all, The small amount of hardwood timber I have bought from my local wood merchant has been cut to finished sizes, but I was wondering if there is a saving to get it just rough sawn and then trim and plane it up to the finished length my self? Also, how do I go about asking for it rough sawn...

    posting pics for computerphobes

Hey Chris, People always fear that doing the littlest thing will bring their computer to a massive slump and crash out completely but really that is rare. If you downloaded a program and tried to install it, and it would not install onto your machine as your machine is not supported you will...

Why you should let your flooring acclimatise

I had to cut an expansion gap round our floor a while ago, it started to buckle in the middle as the person who put it in did not leave an expansion gap. Had to do it with a dremel and a chisel as it is all i had. Took a while but it sorted it out

    coat rack

Hey all, Just finished a little coat hook for the front room for the kids coats. Previously had a rectangle piece of MDF that looked a state so had to redesign it. I used a piece of scrap oak, cut the general shape on the scroll saw and rounded the edges with a block plane. This is the first...

New woodworker, no shop or bench yet.

A plunge router is fine to attach to it there are various youtube videos on showing how to use a car jack as a router lift so you can get more precise height adjustments (board over the bottom of the work mate and jack fixed on top of it, then a little box to fit around the router top that is...

New woodworker, no shop or bench yet.

Also to protect your saw just get a length of hose pipe long enough to cover the blade, slice it open so the saw can slide into it, does a nice job of protecting it and id say get some 3 in 1 oil to help to keep the rust away. Will help the saw glide a bit easier as well if applied lightly with...
