    Latest Project

Hi All, Thought I would share my latest project. It was from a pattern that Bryan sent me a while back, he scaled it down to 70% of the original and I decided to go with it at that as it was best for me. I changed the original use of the pattern and made it into a key holder. Its for my mum and...

    Scroll saw modification

Hi all, Currently I am working on a scroll saw project that has quite a few internal cuts so it was using the Allen key to loosen the clamp take to take the top of blade out then re-tighten it etc and it was becoming a bit lengthy continuously doing this. So after looking online for a quick...

    Combining Veneers with Solid Wood

I would just put a shout out for veneered MDF. From my wood yard it is cheaper and in my opinion just as good, especially for a bookcase. Sanding would be the best way to get rid of it, is it a stained or painted finish? Cheers Marl

    Fencing Slats

    Such a waste

A hotel near where i work in the city has had some remodelling done and there "scrap" is pilled out side. Such a shame its so much of a nightmare to get into the city for.me with my car as there is a nice amiunt of sheet goods (ply and mdf) outside and various other material

    securing pillar drill in shed

I would imagine making a concrete mold oversized and about 15 cm thick. You can then just bolt it to the block. That should keep it still

    no TV, Internet or Telephone!

Yeah we have it all packaged up so its cheaper. Never use the house phone as i have unlimited minutes on my mobile anyway and the land line is a rip off if not used at weekends. To be honest dont know why we cant do it like they do in Hong Kong where you can just get broadband and not roped into...

    no TV, Internet or Telephone!

Well i am not paying it thats for sure. Tbh they should have buried the line deeper. But if they charge they can send the bill next door. I'm just hoping they come at about 6 as ill be back from work else the misses will need to deal with it.

    no TV, Internet or Telephone!

Quick rant. Came back from clacton on Sunday evening to find we had no tv or internet. Monday still the same so tried ringing virgin media but phone not working either. So 0845 number from a mobile ( they should be banned i feel) and they said they could not see my boxes. Went out side and...

    Learning curve

This is definitely a learning from past mistakes post. So Last weekend I finally got around to build a new shed/storage unit in the back garden so the old one can come down (before it falls down). The new one is 8ft long and 4ft wide and about 3 1/2 ft deep and has about a 5 degree slope down...

    small workspaces, show me yours!

It is more about keeping everything mobile. If things are on wheels and you use the vertical space for storage it should help you alot. I dont have a fixed workshop, i have a popup work bench (recently built a proper bench for the garden but obviously can only use in decent weather). Mark

    sofa build questions

Looks nice Pete. The frame is simple and similar to what I imagined on how it would be constructed. How much was the upholster out of interest. Phil, what do you mean by what you put. Are you talking about how the L shape will meet? If so I have been thinking out that quite a bit. I think a...

    Scrollsaw DIY

The product looks very nice altogether. Is it just the stain or did you use reclaimed boards to do the shelving and bath panelling. It has a slight rustic charm about it. Mark

Not sure where to start with this..

Hi Simon. They could be cut with a CNC machine. It would give you the ability to consistently produce the same design. In a way yes they would be like a gasket but i would say you want to keep the thickness of each piece to about 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Do they have to resonate the sound, as...

    sofa build questions

Hi all, I am looking at building my own L shape sofa with built in storage. I have been looking around and seen a few bits about and it seems feasible for my level. For seat cushions in going to use Ikea foam bed mattresses (much cheaper than the "real" foam even if i have to use 2 mattresses)...

Doll wardrobe for the step daughter (Complete)

In the end I found the logo and printed it to the size needed. I then cut the main lettering out and used that as a stencil to draw around then neatened the stencil up so it looked more like the actual logo and I then painted it the white (i think it was 4 coats with rub downs in between) I...
