    Hearing Aids

I can't imagine this is a good idea. You bought a world class brand from a company with umpteen years of design know how and modified it. If stuffing more foam in was beneficial they would have provided them like that.

As a Chartered Occupational Safety Professional (just to confirm my ability to comment on such matters) ; I would recommend those too.

    Hearing Aids

For future reference: you can go straight to your local NHS trust's audiology department. The problem with going to "shops" is their prime motivation is selling their own products. The industry is not regulated like say, opticians.

    Hearing Aids

Re read your post. Yeah after a time you will get used to them. Being near twice your age ( but deaf since I was 20) I have lots of friends who now need aids. Virtually everyone has had issues with bought ones and on my advice have turned to the good old NHS. Your audio gram will show very...

Forget buying them! The ones provided by NHS are far superior and you will get better support from well qualified people.

    How square is your square

For an engineering square, to me that isn't acceptable. I bet it is within advertised tolerance though. For woodworking its fine. For woodworking it is a rather expensive option.

    How square is your square

I have a 6" engineers square, not sure where I aquired it nor what brand it is. I checked it at work to nuclear engineering QA standards. This is now never used but sits in a drawer, it's purpose is to check my umpteen other squares, to be honest I have never had any problems with anything I...

    Reclaimed floorboards (again).

I think I would notch with a simple jig and a router. Have you checked which way the joists run? Will you end up with more notch than full board?

    table saw fence question

Bob, I think the problem is cracked, not sure how Amazon works there, but the right blade is going to set you back about £30 were you in the uk. Bunging one in your (or visitors) suitcases is not going to be a major problem. I can imagine you are a bit p ed off at the moment, but think this...

    table saw fence question

Bob, cutting along the grain is ripping. As I said a while ago, 60 tooth is too fine. Have a look on the Freud packet and it will tell you 60 tooth is for cross cutting. A general blade (that will do both) will most likely sort you.

    Any Old Iron

Bob, About 20 years ago I was going back and forth "over the pond" and on every return trip I brought back a set of Pony clamps. These fitted straight onto uk gas pipe, so the threads can't be vastly different. Until just now, I had never thought about BSP vs NSP but I see your reasoning

    table saw fence question

IF.... I have understood "today's task" correctly, I think I would have done that on a sledge. Certainly the fence would have not been on the TS at the time.

Parameters for a small joinery bench.

The benefits of my poorly made version is getting the workpiece closer to my eye level but it's about elbow height, now you mention it. On my to do list is to make a copy of this https://www.axminster.co.uk/sjobergs-smart-vice-502365 But taller. Need to experiment but I reckon maybe elbow height

    table saw fence question

IMHO, 60 tooth is no good for ripping, which is what I assume you are doing if you are using the fence Bob put a micrometer on the teeth and then the Riving knife is the RK wider? Try a short fence. You can fit a lump of wood through the middle of the box section and then as Jacob says. There...

    Thank you Ray Girling

Nice post! I thought pretty much the same when I read Ray's post, yesterday. Never met the bloke but his posts were always helpful and friendly. I still have a spare set of triton brushes he kindly sent me. Sorry to hear the workshop has got too much, Ray. Best wishes.

Does anyone know if the screws for record and Stanley's of this era are the same? If yes I think I can help.

    The Midlands Woodworking Show

Just to prove I am extra sad, I have found two of these this morning  Had not realized how few were made and thus rare. Anyway they are up for sale......... let’s say £1000 each

    Making miniature tools, advice needed

Julian If you give us a clue where you live I bet someone will have suitable beech off cuts. I certainly have a box full that would do the job.

    The Midlands Woodworking Show

It was something donkeys years ago. Looking back, it was all a bit sad (as my sons would say).
