Low electric power, early morning problem

I am no expert,but...... Assuming your telly is a fairly recent flat screen model it's very unlikely the voltage as they are intended to run 220/240 so the whole local distribution system would drop out if the juice got that low.

    Home made turning tools

I would not contemplate using a file. If you are that hard up just find another hobby. Phil's suggestion is a good one as a start point.

"Maloof" finish compared to Danish oil

A little goes a long way. I have a tin that cost 10 quid and I think it will see me out.

"Maloof" finish compared to Danish oil

I wonder if microcrystalline wax to finish off, would do the trick?

"Maloof" finish compared to Danish oil

I found a stack of jute sacks like they used to put spuds in “when I were a lad”. They make good wax on wax off polishing rags. You can find similar thin weave stuff under old chairs and the like, so I imagine a source of new stuff would be upholsterers

Yes, it's bad, buying my own kitchen instead of making one..

As Stuart Paul says, once they are in, they are all the same. Spend your money on Blum fittings and decent fronts and tops. I bought carcasses from b n q    in their jan sales about five years ago and they have been fine. I think they were less than the cost of wood...

    Respirators

I cannot see any reference to mandatory safety standards for this product. My assumption therefore is Amazon is breaking the European regulations in promoting the product.

Conspiracy nuts. (split from Re: How does this work?)

I have often wondered what would have happened had he not been shot. I suspect he would eventually made Nixon look like a saint.

    Tablesaw safety

I have been wearing a seatbelt in cars for 45 years. At one time I was doing 40k miles a year. In all that time I guess the seatbelt has prevented some minor injuries, twice (low speed shunts). Do I think seat belts are pointless safety devices???

    Flush cut saws.

Aldi or lidl often have a pull saw on offer. It comes with two blades, I ran one blade over a stone to take off the edge on one side and keep this for the occasional need to flush cut. But using a bit of card would be just as good. Generally I can't get on with pull saws, but one of these...

    Which digital vernier caliper

Regarding calipers eating batteries. I tip that was posted on the forum that I have found useful, is to lock the jaws ( little knurled screw at the top ) when you put it away. Works for me.

    Fretting about an expensive saw

This is just a guess based on my own meagre experience. I assume you have a saw set and are happy using it? There is a good argument for sticking to hardpiont saws particularly if nails are involved. By the way, we are not discussing back saws are we???
