    Carpenters tool chest

Tell me about it!! I have the equivalent of four average garages as outhouses / workshops plus the loft. Have great difficulty throwing anything away. I am trying to reform :D For example, yesterday I found a bucket full of springs from an old fashioned bed, I bet they have been in the back...

    Carpenters tool chest

Yeah that is my dilemma, I have two and due to needing to downsize they have to go, but I hate the idea of destroying someone’s work.

    Carpenters tool chest

I am thinking of the ones that look like a suitcase with hinged lid. Does anyone use these anymore? Why were they once so common ? I guess they were an apprentice piece

    Concrete

I am getting very close to buying a bungalow that will require a fair amount of work before we can move in. Just at the thinking stage. I plan a decent workshop, for that I will lay a concrete raft. The front of the property has been completely covered in once white stone chip pings. These are...

    Millers falls 620A

FTAGH I have found this in my garage, no idea where I acquired it. Assumed it was a rusty Yankee but then realised the build quality was better. Spares or repair only, so it might suit someone who has one already. Collect from Loughborough, or maybe David Stanley auction next week.

    Tenon saws (and others)

I agree! I would do it like that. The bench is joinery. However the saw the op proposes would be a good, albeit slower, option and a way of gaining experience and muscle memory. Save nice dovetail saws for fine work.

    Tenon saws (and others)

That will do as a first saw. Handle looks uncomfortableThough. I would go for the longer one.

    The Value of tools

My most valuable tools are those that were my Dads. I am careful to use these properly as I am sure he is looking over my shoulder. Followed by the rusty junk I have fettled so it works like new.

    The Value of tools

My mobile phone is a cast off of my sons. I put ten quids worth of pay as you go on it in March , still have credit left.

    The Value of tools

I have seen and caressed Skelton saws on a few occasions and it is a thing of beauty and craftsmanship. At the end of the day it just saws like any other, it might give you a added bit of satisfaction in using and owning it, but it's not unlike the latest wiz bang mobile phone.

    cooking

Cook for near four hours, rest for an hour and then chuck in the bin! If turkey was remotely nice, why don't we eat it all year round, as it is very cheap meat. Tomorrow I will be mainly eating pigs in blankets and the all Brussels and parsnips no one else will touch.

    "Budget" Table Saw recommendation

The Charnwood is decent value for money. And yes they will help out if you have issues. If you do get it, I have a few changes I made to mine over the first year that have made it a bit easier to use and am happy to pass them along.
