    Boarding a loft.

Not look at costs yet. I was thinking osb was a bit lighter than chipboard, but I had not realised it might sag.

    RTFM

Except a well written manual is an excellent get out of jail card.

    RTFM

My petrol chainsaw manual advises me not to stop the chainblade with my fingers, which I thought was a good suggestion.

    Boarding a loft.

I plan to board out a bungalow loft. This will be storage / “office space. It will not be a true habitable space, access via a posh loft ladder. As I have already removed the chimney the majority of loft is unobstructed. I think it will be around 9 x 9 metres of useable floor. I was thinking...

    Masonry screws - skirting board

I realised today that I have never bought brown plugs. I had my dads when he died and the rest were given to me by the f in law and his brother. Both worked for the same building firm and they “borrowed “ them from work. He retired at 64 and died last year aged 90.

    Tv coaxial

Do you think we have reached the point where a house no longer needs a tv aerial and thus tv sockets and the related wiring. My thoughts are one being needed, incase the phone line and thus the internet become disconnected. Further, I assume running a power cable and coax together is asking...

    Masonry screws - skirting board

Thanks folks I intend to use primed mdf skirting and just fill with calk. I have done this before in my sons house and it worked well. This time I have a whole bungalow to do and maybe on my own, this time. I think we bought some framing screws but did not get on well with them, maybe the...

    Masonry screws - skirting board

I recently bought an impact driver and am impressed. Soon I will be fitting miles of skirting board. I was thinking that instead of screws and plugs it might be possible to drive screws into the brick instead. Has anyone done this? And any recommendations or opinions?

    Robert Wearing, 1921 - 2020 R.I.P.

I will have a look at my collection of his books this evening. No matter how often I read them I find something new. I bought all of mine second hand via amazon. They are or where, very cheap.

    bit driver name

Not what you asked about but does this help? I bought one to get into tight spaces and was quite impressed with the quality. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolson-Offset- ... H05KWZCBFE

    Electrical question

What actually does the shower rating say? Both on the old and new. Is the difference just a function of the wider voltage tolerance throughout the eu? I think this is 220 - 240 plus or minus 10% My thinking is there must be a reason why the new one is cheaper and it might be because it is...

    Another Joke

Which wheels for a center steady ?

I wrote “on”. But they were “in”. It wasn’t a typo, just me being linguistically lazy.

    Buying a workshop

Still umming and arring , but will probably go for a log cabin type garage -less the garage doors. Maybe 6 x 4 metres . The rear of the property has a sweeping tarmac drive to a precast garage (not as grand as that sounds) and the workshop will sit on part of that. A previous owner must have...

What's the difference between "Trade" and other paint?

It is not a shop that I like, but The Range has a narrow selection of Johnson paint and they are open, I think. I have found Lidl Aldi paints to be very good. I hate painting, so would not profess to have any expertise.
