    Face masks

I have no objection to them at all. Just so long as folks understand the reason why and their considerable limitations.

    Face masks

In that case you are part of, what I would guess is less than 1% of the population, who would get decent protection from this form of PPE. Certainly a good 50% NHS staff , who should have had training, use it incorrectly from what I have seen.

    Face masks

Define suitable mask. If you mean for the wearer's protection , you need something costing maybe £500 plus a couple of hours training on how to put it on, take it off ( the critical action) and maintain it.

    Face masks

Just don't put too much faith in it as its no where are protective as you think. What about you eyes? , I understand this is a route of infection exceeding that of the respiratory tract. Distance is your best protection, that and avoiding touching your face . Plus hand washing.

    Face masks

Now we are on the edge of compulsory wearing of face masks in shops etc........ These only have some use by preventing the wearer contaminating others. They do not protect the wearer indeed a case could be made for them being detrimental to the wearer. I think most of us either through our...

    UK as an "Emerging Economy"?

This all started when some ***** decided economics was a science rather than something akin to astrology.

    UK as an "Emerging Economy"?

This happened to me too. However I have a bit of a thing about reading from hard copy. 20 years previously when I joined the company the first big job I worked on resulted in a report to a client. Fast forward to after a office relocation: the job done years ago, sprang a major leak and the...

    High Torque Cordless Drill

I too have recently aquired an impact driver. Wish I had bought one long ago.

    UK as an "Emerging Economy"?

In an attempt to start a slightly more practical discussion...... I think we need to turn our national hand towards making stuff. We still have the ability to engineer and manufacture if we put our national mind to it. We ought to become more self reliant . Regarding raw materials, we spend a...

    Fancy a pint?

So..... you found two totally separate facts and mashed them into the same sentence to suggest what? It’s not difficult to see why some here, get a bit cheesed off with your opinions.

    Fancy a pint?

Where do you get these “facts “ from? There is a village close to me and all four pubs remain closed! They are ten miles outside Leicester and have decided to remain closed rather than risk folks from the city descending on them.

    McGregor Screwdriver

From the title, I assumed that it was the Scottish version of the Birmingham screwdriver.

I see Ghislaine Maxwell has contracted Covid in prison. Hmm

Bit of a side track, but have a look at how many slaves are estimated in the U.K. The Leicester lockdown is most likely due to this issue and has been common knowledge locally for 20 years .

I see Ghislaine Maxwell has contracted Covid in prison. Hmm

We might be needing your expert advice about the hand gun used for the deed. Look in next week.

I see Ghislaine Maxwell has contracted Covid in prison. Hmm

BM, You might be right, but this is another country you are talking about, so if their legal system is corrupt it’s not our problem. Let us instead worry about our own shortcomings. Present day slavery for one. Don’t like the term modern slavery, as it suggests it’s different/better. Blind...

I see Ghislaine Maxwell has contracted Covid in prison. Hmm

Mike, Clearly the virus fast tracks the entitled members of society. They are not used to having to wait like us plebs.

    Hammer in fixings

I have had several people tell me the same thing. But somehow it takes me too far out of my comfort zone. I know that I really need to give it a try.

    Hancock's Half Hour

I know that it’s a big if, but if it’s possible that the government can learn lessons then the dogs dinner they have made in Leicester might just be worthwhile. Apparently they would not release data to the local authorities because a bit of paperwork about data protection wasn’t signed. This...
