Somebody stop me.... Imminent Festool purchase

So did you do it? Other than some experimenting with dust extraction it has been amazing, although I did manage to cut a section off the adjustable fence doing an angled cut!

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

Ah interesting, why do you say that? I was thinking they would take up the least space!

Somebody stop me.... Imminent Festool purchase

What are you using for dust extraction on yours Mike? I have a KS60. Among the many reasons for getting it was the supposed better dust extraction. With the 27mm Festool hose on a CTL MIDI I've been really underwhelmed by the extraction. Using a 36mm hose improves the situation but it still...

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

I'm in a similar situation as I want to have more material choices than what I can get in PAR, but I need a solution that will be quick as workshop time is limited as it is. My workshop is about half a single garage so I don't have the floor space for a big machine and while I'm hoping to get...

Boarding loft and loft ladder advice

I used LoftZone. Was easy enough to roll the insulation back and set up the deck however works best for the space you've got and it feels very stable with the boards screwed down on the beams. When I had some questions the CEO of the company was responding to emails on a bank holiday, so top...

Do I need to do this glue-up again?

Many many months late, the panel has now made its way into the project: Post a photo of the last thing you made After bringing it indoors it didn't seem to need any special treatment and has stayed flat. Fingers crossed it remains that way.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

A play kitchen for the kids (minus faux hob and oven dials for now). Solid oak worktop, birch ply drawers, pine and MRMDF cabinet, door and drawer fronts. Sprayed paint finish. It's only my second third completed project but quite pleased with the result and learnt a lot along the way.

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

Thanks MikeJhn. This time around hasn't been rushed at all; I've been experimenting for a few hours and used a lot of card and scrap, but it seems any combination of tip (1.4 and 1.8mm)/air/paint settings and technique doesn't eliminate the splatter. That would point to the paint maybe being...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

Thanks Droogs. I think I've used that kind of technique with some success with the Zinsser, but the splatter at the edges with this paint has me worried about spraying anything other than a single flat surface. Once I start going round corners will this blend or just leave those big blobs. I...

    Is this mould?

Thanks everyone, that's saved these from becoming firewood!

Sorry if you've already mentioned this elsewhere MikeJhn, but which tip do you use for emulsion?

    Is this mould?

Thanks Droogs. Would it be fine to use? May be a daft question, but I'm not sure of the implication of building it into a project.

    Is this mould?

I bought some 2x3 CLS a few weeks ago. I remember thinking at the time that some of it didn't look great but was in a rush so just packed it up and left. I can't remember if it was all of them or just a few that I thought that about. I was originally going to use these in a playhouse build...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

I tried again but this time giving it a good stir, and after a lot of experimenting on scrap and card, I've been quite pleased with the results. This is two coats of Zinsser Bullseye, again thinned nearly 10%. Now I'm stuck again but on the finish coat. The customer (my daughter) picked a...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

Thanks all. I thinned the paint a few days ago but ran out of time so put it in a jar. Yesterday I gave the jar a quick shake (probably not a good idea), then strained the paint into the spray gun pot. I noticed that the strained paint had separated somewhat and there was some loose water on...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

Finally got to try the Fuji Mini Mite 4, although it was a bit of a rush. Using a GXPC gun with the supplied 1.4mm cap, spraying Zinsser Bullseye thinned just over 10% with water. I was quite pleased with the results for a first attempt, although the paint has dried with some bubbles, so any...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

Thanks Istrickl. That was one of the considerations about the airless systems like that: the amount of paint required in the lines and for smaller jobs (which most of mine might be) that could start to be annoying. I don't have a compressor and so far wouldn't have any other need for one so...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

That's a good point Mike, a result like your wardrobe doors is what I'm after. I'm relatively new to making and painting, and so far have only used Zinsser 123 and Johnstone's Aqua Satin and I was dissatisfied with the results using a roller and a brush. I've got a lot of painted furniture...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

I think my priority is to get the best type of machine for spraying the stuff I'm making, that might also do internal painting - at least on trim work where I rather dislike the finish I get with brushes- even if it is with some compromises during use. It would only be in our own home so I'm ok...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

Apologies if this is hijacking the thread, I can start another if required. I'm looking for a setup that would be good for primarily painting cabinets and furniture pieces, and very occasionally painting internal walls and skirting boards, and perhaps some outdoor furniture and a shed. Would...
