I've got a bench top mortiser that I bought from a Forum member that has sat under a bench since the day it got here. There's nothing wrong with it - I just use the domino all the time.

If you make the middle piece of ply smaller all round by 10mm on each edge then you don't need a tenon.

If I was doing this I would try and work out how to get the shelf of the top section fitted AFTER the cabinet was fitted, and then hide fixings behind the shelf. As the guys have said there will be considerable weight there and it WILL sag unless properly supported. I'd try and get a good fixing...

That has got to be about the scariest thing I've ever seen on a Tablesaw. How he still has all his fingers is a total mystery. (although they do look as though they could have been grafted on!!)
