Finish for childrens puzzles & toys

Thanks for that (I think ;-) I confess I found that as clear as mud :-( I was particularly intrigued as to why a parent would let their child chew a nativity ;-) Then I realised they were talking about a cot :-)

Finish for childrens puzzles & toys

Hi all I am wondering what is the best finish to apply to the likes of simple puzzles and toys for children I am doing a show soon and want to make sure I am not using a finish that isn't child friendly

    Opinions on Proxxon DSH2

There should be no need to add a piece of sandpaper between the blade, in fact as one side of sandpaper is flat it would not help IMHO Are you roughing the ends of the blades ? some can be a bit shiny so rough them up with the sandpaper Make sure there are no remnants of a previous broken...

    Opinions on Proxxon DSH2

Asking on behalf of a potential buyer of a Proxxon DSH2 I haven't had a Proxxon myself but they are usually well regarded Wondered if anyone had one and could highlight any good or bad points I understand the blade clamping grub screw is rather soft and needs replacing often (but could just...

How To Avoid Kickback On The Table Saw

Hmmm...very safety conscious ! I know he was doing a demo but no safety glasses, no extraction (presumably due to noise) no face mask Then he ignores his own advise and flicks a cut piece away with the blade spinning and stops the blade by pressing on the side of it Its a wonder he has any...

Finish on tools after restoration ?

Thanks for the additions, I was away chucking polish around ;-) Yes only use tinned beeswax rather than a spray variety, all these things have their uses of course but beeswax stays where you put it :-) We are in Cornwall so its not the coldest place in the winter (it has its moments but not...

Thanks for that input re sticky, I have read them several times and watched any links in them but they only go so far I have read that Microcrystalline Wax is economical, about £9+ for a small tin seems the best price Agree re usage and dry environment, not always possible unfortunately, I...

Finish on tools after restoration ?

One thing I forgot to ask about Microcrystalline Wax has been mentioned and wondered if it would be worth using this Due to the cost I wondered if it would be any better than bod standard polish Mostly for tools, some finishing etc, I understand its good for protecting scroll/band saw...

Finish on tools after restoration ?

Hi all What is the preferred finish to apply to tools after restoration After rust removal and cleaning up I find a wd40 or equivalent works well but isn't long lasting and can be messy if using that item I wondered what was the preferred substance to use to prevent further corrosion...

    Reverse blade help please.

Not sure I understand your problem fully, at least its not something I have come across I am sure you have checked already, but you do have the reverse tooth blades the right way up don't you? I can see no reason to shorten the blade, there must be a reason for the problem to arise, shortening...

    ID on woodworm

Do you mean those plastic bags you suck the air out of? I would very much doubt they would work, they are not good enough to extract every bit of air, so whatever is in the wood would continue to live quite happily until you remove the bag again Even freezing it may not kill it and if it does...

    ID on woodworm

The solution seems obvious to me ;-) Its a French beastie of some description, so find a small piece of succulent wood offcut, soak it in garlic and leave it outside the hole Arm yourself with a large baseball bat and wait :-) (if it was mine I would set fire to it pronto)
