    moving advice

I am close to Newquay but I am afraid my humping machinery days are long gone, neither do I know anyone that could help in that regard When you say you messaged the two I suggested, have you tried ringing? I would be surprised if they can't help or suggest someone that could

Try either of these, they may be able to help with either just the lift to pallet or the whole thing

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

Thanks for that, I have yet to check over some other points, it has storm braces but I cannot see any expansion slots, unless they are covered up, which may add to the problem Until now I was not aware just how these building can move and what happens if they can't -)

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

Had a further look and having read the log cabin fittings tips, I can see a major part of the problem After having it erected they had someone fit shelves inside who screwed them to the inside walls , and then had the electrics fitted, but didn't know how the conduit should have been fitted...

Thanks for the suggestion, but from what I have read it would cause more problems than it would fix, same for threaded rod etc, but appreciate the feedback

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

Thanks all for the added replies, having read the article on expansion & contraction I can now see it could causes more problems if you do not allow for it Threaded rod would only be of use in closing the gaps but could not be left in place as a permanent fixture I am having to reevaluate the...

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

As it happens I have read one part of this series without realising there were more, having read the part on expansion/contraction I can see that threaded rod or fixing to each slat of the cabin is out of the question, I had not grasped the need for expansion & contraction as much as I should...

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

Thanks for your input, I honestly don't know if its within her budget to do that, but may try a test but even finding 10 or 12mm threaded rod that long might be a task in itself

Thanks for the suggestion but think those noodles would be to big, I looked at the backer rod foam suggested and its not to expensive £7 for a 10mtr roll 20mm

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

Thanks for that, if I were a bit younger I would certainly tackle it but its a bit much now, as I said the base is hard and firm, no movement as far as I can tell, its the way they have erected it on a slight slant that appears to be the problem And yes the timbers are more substantial than...

Thanks for that, I confess I have never heard of it but can see its usefulness , thanks for the suggestion

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

No the base is solid, I can't see any cracks or movement in it, it was erected more than 26 years ago as it was there when we moved in Its been long in use, has a tumble dryer and washing machine in it as well as the accumulated stuff of five years, so would take a lot of effort to empty it I...

Sadly the gaps are to big for caulk By backer rod do you mean vertically roof to floor? or ?

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

Thanks for your reply, but no the base is firm and solid, basically they used the existing patio which was firm and solid but had been erected some years ago with a slight slope to let any rain water run off, the base has no cracks or loose flags, I can't see any movement at all in the base but...

Not exactly off topic, slot together shed/cabin repairs

My neighbour has inherited a slot together shed/cabin when she bought the house, it had only been up a couple of years then, now its a further five years old The problem is its not been put up on a flat base (although its a slabbed base) and has gradually dropped it appears at the front end...
