Just bought a Hegner Multicut 1 - What's Missing from it?

Hegner won't have a NVR switch unless added Foot pedals may be useful in certain circumstances, Foredom for example, but can't see the point with a scroll saw, in my case much of my scroll sawing is done standing where a foot pedal is of no use at all But understand they may be useful to...

    My first thing...

Were you using the blades that came with the saw? As they tend to be rather industrial I would try some Pegas blades and you will see the difference, both in the look and feel of the blade but mostly in the use

Silver arm bit? Do you mean the part parallel with the top moving arm? it holds the hold down foot when fitted Or do you mean the block fitted to the table? thats to hold the blade clamp whilst you fit the blade to tighten it up

    Aldi scroll saw

PS meaning all standard blades (which are 5" or about 130mm) fit all machines, it just depends upon the type, ie pinned, pinless or spiral, they are all the same length The only machine I am aware of that takes a different size is the Dremel Motosaw which is not really a scroll saw as such but...

    Aldi scroll saw

Ignore the blade length re 134 or 130mm they all take standard blades I would recommend watching a few you tube videos on blade difference and selection, part one and two of this one are very informative https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=06Kf9h2CXJ0

    Aldi scroll saw

A great many of the lower end saws are made in the same factories and are largely the same with a few minor differences The Aldi saw is variable speed, can take pinned or pinless blades (but easier to use with pinned) I know the previous Aldi saws were actually a Scheppach re-badged as...

    Aldi scroll saw

You will find at the start that blades break quite often, its just inexperience, I still get the odd break but generally wear out the blade before it does As I said earlier, its all down to practice The more you do the better you get at it If you have ordered pinned Pegas blades amongst those...

    Aldi scroll saw

Practice mate ;-) The more you do the better you will become I hear you have ordered some spirals, do yourself a favour and put them to one side until you are a wee bit more proficient, they are a pain Good quality pinned blades will make all the difference, when you find you can do most...

Just bought a Hegner Multicut 1 - What's Missing from it?

The original set up would be a pair of blade clamps, one top and one bottom, the original Hegner blade clamps have a square peg screw, tightened with a clock winder type key You use the block that projects to the right side of the table to set the blade clamp to mount the blade and tighten it...

You are correct on the manual although most are the later models, but the machine is so basic most is still relevant, there are one or two out there for older models On the rear quick tension lever, I made one from a bicycle quick release spindle, cost a bit of time and about £3

Newbie here and to Scroll Saw

As someone said, saws up to about £150 are largely the same machines with slight differences Then the dearer machines at about £500 upwards There are a few in the middle range Proxxon DS460 at about £380 to £400 and the lower model DSH at about £220 Delta 40 694 at £350+ (may need...

Just bought a Hegner Multicut 1 - What's Missing from it?

Hi The only thing I can see thats missing is the plate around the blade, but you can cut one to fit yourself Does it have the bottom blade clamp? The blower tube needs reattaching by the looks of it The top blade clamp is the quick clamp variety, you may be interested to know that is worth...

Thanks for that, I don't get down that way very often but will keep it in mind if I don't sort it out with the others mentioned Foam used to be fairly cheap, now it seems you need a second mortgage for it ;-) Much appreciated

Thanks for the further recommendation for Putnams, I was supposed to phone them today but spent most of today making sawdust instead, so tomorrow I shall try and get through to them Thanks again
